:salam:
What is the meaning and authenticity of this hadith:
Ahsanul Nas al-`Arab wa Ahsanul `Arab Quraysh wa Ahsan Quraysh Bani Hashim.
The best of people are the Arabs, and the best of Arabs are Quraysh and the best of Quraysh are Bani Hashim.
It is narrated in Imam al-Suyuti's 40 Hadith collection on the excellences of Ahlul Bayt (radi Allahu `Anhum).
Is it in the very least "correct in meaning" and if so how does it go together with other hadith such as:
"No Arab is better than non-Arab nor non-Arab better than Arab except in taqwa"
