just thought i'd let my brothers and sisters know about Channel Islam International. www.channelislam.com

It's a 24hr Digital Islam radio station that's broadcast from Lenasia, South Africa to over 55 countries ( www.channelislam.com/coverage.htm --->2 see if u can hear CII from where u live ).Recently , CII was launched in UK so alhumdulilah people there can hear it as well.

To listen , u need a Worldspace receiver and u need 2 pay a monthly subscription ( R60 in South Africa and $10 in UK).

Alhumdulillah, many people have changed their lives through the efforts of CII and many now keep themselves occupied listening 2 CII instead of watching TV ,listening 2 music etc coz it's an excellent islamic alternative 2 the western media, masha Allah.

Also 2 listen 2 Radio Islam (also a South African based radio ) go 2 :

both are family favourites in my house!!!!!

both are different yet both are brilliant.

but it poses the question of listening to the voice of non mahrams,especially when they talk in ajovial tone,sometimes with male co presenters.Cii seesm to be the bigger culprit in this issue.

For southern african region people, get the sattelite radio, with both radio and chnel islam. In Zambia, contact Maulana idris at the Jamiah islamiyyah.shukran.

The channel islam international online stream does not seem to be working, hence I dont think we could hear it online in the UK at the moment.

As for getting a reciever, that would not work either due to a technical glitch. It could possibly work by getting a reciver which gets the stream from the internet, however until the internet stream doesnt come on we will not be able to listen to it. A few years back World Space USA had a satellite called AfiStar. This was broadcasting Channel Islam International from South Africa to the UK.
Approximately three years ago this was removed from service as a new satellite has been launched in Italy.

World Space had promised us that the new Italian service would accomodate Channel Islam broadcasts from South Africa. Since the World Space UK and USA has undergone Bankcruptcy.

I am in communication with the new World Space company who is willing to accomodate Channel Islam broadcasts to the UK. They cannot promise how and when at this stage.

Muslims in the UK are very disappointed as we had invested a lot of money in the satellite receivers and aerial systems, which are currently obselete.

In the meantime we can receive Channel Islam International Radio by audio streaming. There is no problem with this.

There are many good Islamic programmes on Channel Islam International. Some are not in accordance with the Shariah. Also the use of female broadcasters. Many adverts are unislamic. This can only change through dialogue with their management committee.

Someone may correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that by law the radio stations are compelled to have equality in jobs for both men and women, especially in announcers etc.

Yeah, there was a big issue about this a few years back. In fact Radio Islam went off air for a couple of years because they did not wish to conform to the Law that says women have to be part of the station and it's programmes.

However a few years later they decided to conform and the station re-opened, this time with female presenters....

Both Cii and Radio islam are family favourites. though we are not fond of certain things found in Cii.

we were advised by a learned sheikh to listen to the good and not the bad - but by all means complain when things are done in an unislamic manner, insha Allah this will be a catalyst to change for the better as we cannot sit back and take a back seat in this regard, amr bil ma'aroof wa nahy anil munkar - enjoin the good and forbid the evil

mufti ak hoosens programs esp the q and a program on monday night 8 pm central african time is awesome masha Allah ,Allah has really blessed him .For 2 hrs he answers questions live in all schools of thought, from throughout the world - check out website www.ciinetwork.net for more info on programs etc.

Recently a friend of mine informed me that you can listen to Channel Islam International and Radio Islam in the UK (and probably anywhere) using an internet radio. In addition with the right kind of internet radio you can also listen to any audio streams of Ulama which are broadcast over the internet, including Bukhari Duroos from Al Kawthar Academy by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq and the Majaalis from Islamic Da'wah Academy. Are there any other authentic audio streams you are aware of which might be compiled here as a list?
I have only just purchased an internet radio and will see how I get on getting the radio and broadcasts.

Using your smartphone you can also get an app to play internet radio and search for CII and Radio Islam and listen via that route.
