Verily everything is possible through dua with Ikhlaas. It is said that the dua of Shaykh Abdul-Qaadir Jilani (ra) held so much power that it served as a source of removing the torment a deceased man was receiving in his grave, through the qudrat of Allah swt.

Dua is the word.

The Karama of the Awliya is something that has been accepted by most of the scholars, save the Mutazilites.

Sayyid Jilani, Alhamdulilah, the number of miracles reported from him are great in number.

There are plenty of genetic mutations if that's what your talking about.

I'm pretty sure exactly 0 of them would allow a person to see through other people - any links to information on this girl?

Hmm.. I'm probably being a bit uneducated here, but surely nobody knows what happens in the grave save those who recieved revelation by the grace of Allah (swt).. In addition I would imagine his duas had no power whatsoever as Allahu alim which duas he answers and nobody's are guaranteed to be answered even once..

The story goes something like a man visited Shaykh Abdul-Qaadir Jilani (ra) saying he had had a dream that his father was receiving azaab in the grave, and his father asked him to go and visit Shaykh Abdul-Qaadir Jilani (ra). The son came to visit him and Shaykh Jilani asked if his father had ever walked past his front door, and the son answered in the affirmitive. Shaykh Jilani sent the son home. The next day, the son came back and said he had had another dream last night, that his father had been saved from the azaab and was in peace.

I've heard the story too Saleel.

I understand the concept of being given certain abilities and 'powers' to do certain things according to a persons nearness to Allah through spirituality etc

I was actually thinking the concept of being born with abilities which may seem 'supernatural' in a world of 'supposed' reality.

Here are a couple of links from websites about the girl with X Ray vision:

CBBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/world/newsid_3400000/3400327.stm)
Ananova News (http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_855907.html)

Weird and wonderful world

Sallamu Alaikum

The most famous example being Rabiah Al Basri, who prayed with her prayer mat floating in air. Similarly Imam al Hasan Basri was known to pray standing on the surface of water. The beautiful saying of Sayyidini Rabiah was something to this effect:

"Oh hasan, Fish also live (or swim) in water and birds fly in the air,"

signifying the fact that, "it was nothing special."

True sis. Oddly though Ibn Taymiyya says that the miracles of the Awliya will not cease to take place in this community till the Day of resurrection, as cited in his Aqida al wasitiyya.

As Salaamu Alaykum,

As mentioned, it is one of the Aqeeda (beliefs) of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah that "Karaamatu Awliyaa Haqqun", that the miracles at the hand of the saints is a fact.

The Prophet's Alayhimus Salaam miracles are classed as Mu'jizaat, and the term used for the miracles performed by Awliyaa (pious saints) is Karaamaat.

On this basis, who can be more pious from the Awliyaa of Allah than the Sahaaba Radhialllahu Anhum?! It is reported in many Ahadeeth of incidents that took place between the Sahaaba. For example, two Sahaabas were walking, when darkness fell upon them a light seemed to come from one of there walking sticks. When they reached a point at which they had to both depart and take there own ways the other Sahaabi's stick also became luminated.

This was the Karaamat of the Awliyaa. and this occurs in this Ummah and is also clasified as the Mu'jizaat of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. All the miracles that come into existance through the Awliyaa is due to their connection to the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, being his Ummati (follower).

Similarly, if a miracle is performed by a Faasiq (sinner) it is regarded as Istidraj, which means to degrade, demote them gradually.

And if it is performed by a Kaafir (disbeliever) then this will classed as sihr, that is, magic.

In conlusion, x-men don't exist. But Allah has the ability to show His power through whom He wills. As said by the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi Wa Sallam "Indeed Allah also aides His religion through transgressors".

Wa Alaykum As Salaam.

Masha'allah thanks for the answers..

How do you explain the 'x ray girl' incident and other weird things such as ESP if 'x men' don't exist?

We have a weekly youth gathering at Jamia Masjid in Leicester for all youth, I asked this question there and the Maulana said that they may exist and we can't deny the fact that they do.

I've checked on Sunnipath (http://www.sunnipath.com) and a few other sites, found little...

So if anyone has any other answers, greatly appreciated if shared :)

As Salaamu Alaykum,

I just wanted to clarify what i meant by "x-men don't exist". I had a person ask me a similar question. It was regarding the fact whether superman, batman and x-men etc exist, in a sense that do 'super-heroes' go round saving people. I know it seems like a bizarre question but nevetheless was a sincere one.

Therefore, i thought you were directly implying the existance of x-men.

It has to be agreed that if people like that girl exist then we cannot deny that such powers do exist. This is from a worldly point of view. Meaing that the girl could see physical attributes. Whereas, Imam Abu Hanifa Rahmatullah Alayh was able to see the sins of a person being washed away from the water of their ablution. If such a miracle is accepted and concieved in Islam then surely one cannot find it difficult to believe something from a worldly point of view either.

Allah is able to show his power in any form and shape. Any phenomenon has a basis and therfore i would agree with the Ulamaa of Jami'ah that such occurences exist.

By the way, when does this youth gathering occur? and which Alim is there? Insha-allah i would like to join you brothers some time.
