Asalaam Alaikum
I had a question about al wara wal bara (loving and hating for the sake of Allah). I understand we should disassociate ourselves with muslims who take their deen very lightly but yet at the same time we need to make sure we don't completely cut them off, as it is our duty to do dawah and bring them to the straight path of islam.
However,i wanted to know was whether it is permissible to disassociate yourself from practising muslims, just because you feel they are effecting your imaan in a negative way, even though this is not what they intended. Usually when muslim brothers and sisters get to know each other they initially speak about islam but as time passes, they start speaking idle talk. If a person feels this is distracting them from their imaan and other duties such as towards their parents and studies, then is it permissible to cut off ties with these people, despite them being very good and pious muslims?
