Bismillah.

Assalamu alaikum

May this reach you in the best state of health and iman. Ameen.

I was hoping someone with 'ilm would be able to assist me.

1. What is the proof for the existence of the awliyah? (I have seen several evidences, but I was wondering if anyone had an article that compiled them into one source)

2. Many times we hear the statement 'so and so was a Wali of Allah', however, how can we be certain of this?

3. We are told that knowledge of tasawwuf cannot be transmitted by books, but only by those who have acquired a certain spiritual state. However, how do we determine who is at such a spiritual state?

4. Where do these concepts of Kashf, Fana, and other "Sufi" terms come from.

5. In fact, where does the term "Sufi" itself come from? What does it mean in the Arabic language? If its lacks a definition, then doesnt this mean it is a bid'a?

I am not seeking to debate or argue about these things, these are just questions.

masalama

Alot of your questions are answered by Shaykh `Ali al-`Iraqi's work in Arabic "Madkhal al-`Ilm `Ilmul Tassawuf"

Also Shaykh Hisham Kabbani and Gibril Haddad's "Encylopedia on Islamic Doctrine."

As for (2) - kashf. Through kashf or fisasa you can find a Wali. Kashf and firasa are for the people who have them.

I posted somewhere else on kashf and firasa.

Salam aleikum.Yes this is a good website , it is deobandi. so they can maybe very strict about some fiqh position but in the field of tasawuf they are the only you can trust 100% about their ortodhoxy and agreement with right sunni aqida. stay away from baralevi people , kabbani and nazim , from arab sufi's without beard and so on .they are fake ,people of shirk and bidah ,the main reason why sufi's are looked with suspicion by many muslim's. A real shaykh teach you to worship only Allah and not to worship him(the"shaykh") o some death in a grave.

This behavious is worse than that of a wahabi, dispelling all and sundry to bida and shirk. It cannot be acceptable, attacking a whole group of people like this.

salam aleikum. you are right ,forgive me.i make a mistake in writing.i mean to say that SOME extreme barelvis can be deviated ,for extremism in their path ,not because they are barelvi. it is even truth that many barelvis have a harsh attitude against deobandi's , and make even takfir of the pious elder's of the school of deoband. so i'm against extreme and takfiri/khawarij baralevi's ,not against all of them. they have many good shuyukh's and many awliya ,in the past in the present , between them. May Allah give us the blessing to finish with the deobandi/barelvi fitnah and give unity to the traditional sunni's. Amin ! brother , please, forgive me. your brother Hassan.

;) Because of my experience with fuqara from morocco ,algeria ,tunisia, egypt and siria. all this people disliked strongly my long beard and some of them are muqadam's of tariqat shadili and tijani , they literaly mock my beard as "fundamentalist flag ". it is even true that many people in turkey and in the balkan's are member's of sufi turuq and shave beard's completly.this same dervish smoke cigarette's after collective dhikr(balkan's !) and give hand's to women and have wife's without hijab. i don't say this people are bad , no , they are sure very good people between them , but they are victim's of colonalism ,postcolonialism and secular arab states (in nord africa and siria) and 50 year's of socialist atheism (balkan's) and kemal ataturk system (turkey).
