Brother,
Do you know how many more volumes are left to be translated?

More importantly, would this book be worth buying for a laymen as a point of reference? Or is it better to be bought if you intend on studying Hanafi fiqh to a great extent?

salaam,
I'm no scholar, I was just so happy at finding that one of the two great books of Hanafi fiqh was published in English on April 8th.
I've not actually bought this myself although I intend to after my exams inshallah but over the last few years whenever I asked any scholar/imam/bookshop about the most worthy hanafi fiqh manual they've always said Nur-ul-idha or Al-Hidayah, although none were available in English..until now.
The other Hanafi book that was recommended highly was Heavenly Ornaments by Imam Thanvi although I suspsect that was partly due to the fact that the translation of that book was available in many languages, urdu, bengali, english etc.
Whether this is a reference point for a layman, I'm not 100% sure, I thought thats what fiqh books were supposed to be, but I suppose if its full of references and contradictory points between the scholars of the hanafi fiqh then some guidance will be needed iA.
wassalaam
I'm pretty sure this is the only volume available at the moment though, its a pretty hefty book though, so maybe by the time some of us get through this the next volume will be published! inshallah

The Hidayah was specifically designed to foster an in-depth relationship with teacher and student, due to its complexity.

You know what the funny thing is, i think the hedayah was already translated into english by Charles Hamilton. It's in my local masjid. Anyone know about that?

Assalamu 'alaykum
I don't think it was the complete translation and is in 'Old English' which makes it difficult to understand.

it was a bad translation i heard.
as for the book - mufti muhammad said find an alim to go through it with you. as with even the most basic fiqh books - this is necessary.
