Assalamu alaikum
what relationship should a student have with their shaykh?
I was wondering in the sense that: what questions should a mureed ask, to better themselves. What advice should be sought after................?

depends on both the shaykh and the tariqah. A alot times the answer to our questions are closer that we realize

I think there might a be a book or a chapter in a book on Adab ul-Mureed or Talib Al Alim/Mannerism of the Student or the Student of Knowledge.
Consider the relationship to be like a best friend relationship as well as a father and son relationship etc.
