:salam:

I was wondering when a person performs a good deed or gives any form of sadaqah do his/her parents ( especially those who have left this world) automatically get the benefit of sadaqah jarriyah or does one need to make explicit intention of saying that may this sadaqah benefit my departed mother etc.

Secondly if one adopts children and raises them, any good deed that they do, is that attributed to their biological parents or adopted parents ( milk relationship may or may not have been established).

I recall reading a hadith to the effect that a form os sadaqatul Jarriya for a person is that he/she leaves behind children who will do good deeds. So if this is taken in context then i would say yes, all good deeds that you do automatically goes to your perents.
