I read about suhrawardi. I think he was a sufi who, I dont know how to put it, but who elaborated the "philosophy of lights". He was actually later on martyred by sultan salahuddin on the instigation of some ulema. I was just wondering what sunni ulema now, think of him ?
He wrote most of his works in his twenties, which is remarkable. And lived only forty years. Below is the link to his bio and works.

Unlike mansur al hallaj or other sufis who made contradictory claims in ecstasy and were executed, I have never heard any ulema discussing him. Is it because his ideas are considered correct?
I do know that now many ulema consider wahad ul wujud to be correct, even though it was the ulema who executed mansur back then. And some of the ulema who "signed" his execution were great sufis themselves, such as Junaid, who believed in what mansur believed. But perhaps didnt protect him because the majority wasnt willing to listen?
sigh, what confusion...
