okay did you like just erase my avatar? I don't see what is wrong with it? This forum is too controlling. First suhayl gives me an attitude now you. If you don't like my avatar please block me but don't remove it. I spend a lot of time making picture graphics of myself and other people. So that is why I put this graphic on there. I don't care if its eek to you.

1. No I did not erase your avatar. I am not a moderator.
2. If it was erased it was done so with good reason. This is a Muslim Forum and commen sense would assume that your avatar is not in keeping with Islamic manners (ie: a woman with no hijab)
3. Br. Suhayl did not give you attitude, he merely advised you of a sisters forum where gender only introductions can be made. The issue was resolved so why are you bringing it up again?
4. Stop attacking everyone. If you are here to learn then do so. Not everyone is out to get you, try taking advice sometime instead of returning with insults.
5. I apologise for sounding harsh but you asked for it.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu Sister,
I am not a moderator and neither did i remove your avatar, however it was most probably done by one of the brothers/sisters who are moderators as it is strictly stated in the rules, that such avatars are not permissible:
Avatars CANNOT contain faces of people, including cartoon drawings. Nor can they contain weapons, or imply any hatred to any group of people/religion. Avatars containing images related to movies, musicians, etc., are also not allowed. Such avatars will be removed. sunniforum.com reserves the right to remove any avatar deemed to be inappropriate.

I am sure no one's intention was to give you attitude, sorry it seemed that way. Please do respect the rulings on this forum, :jazak: Please try and understand sister, the same rules apply to everyone.
Wassalam

Assalamu alaikum, dear sister!
We really do wish that you would stay with us here and give your input here, inshaAllah. I am very sad to see you have been experiencing this beginning of your stay so negatively, although it surely was not meant by anyone to be that way.
However, the rules are the rules as other members have stated before. We would be more than happy to see some graphic images from you without animate beings on them inshaAllah! Jazakillahu khairan in advance!
And do join us sisters over there, inshaAllah!

one of the UNIQUE features of sunniforum is the rule that they dont allow ANYONE to post up pics/avatars depicting animate forms.
mashallah this is a good thing.
it doesnt benefit any of us to know what we all look like.
in fact, this may shock anyone reading this, but i personally know of a brother who posted his eyes up somewhere and a sister after having looked at them, and complimenting them, asked him to reveal his face.
no benefit, just unnecessary attention.
thats one of the reasons why Allah taAla tells us believers to lower our gaze and also cover ourselves in the holy quran.
there really is no benefit in revealing ourselves.
[just a few general points i was thinking as i went thru this thread - no offence to anyone intended]

Mushgan,Khwaar e Azeez,
Welcome to the forum. Don't get too upset over the issue of the avatar. None of us are able to post them, nor shoudl we want to. If you really think abou the wisdom behind the rule, I'm sure that you'll agree.
Yeah it is great to have another Afghan on this forum since sometimes it seems like we Afghans in the West are a little less conscious of our Islam and it saddens me.
De khudai pa'amaan (or Khuda Hafiz) wa'salaam.

salam again, yah well I just don't understand what the big deal is. Anyway, its everyones choice what they want to do, you can't control them because if you do, then they will want to do it even more. Its better to just let people figure out the truth on their own. The people on this site are too strict and I understand why but they go about telling us how to change the wrong way, it turns off a person from wanting to change.
Anyway, you didn't mention what part of afghanistan you are from. Take care.

The big deal is that it is not appropiate. Surely you understand this?
Would a woman prancing about alluringly in front of a group of males be appropiate? It has nothing to do with control or strictness. We are bound by our Islam that we have chosen, to abide by these rules...
Are you not grateful for someone pointing out a wrong, therefore giving you the chance to change for the better? Or would you rather live in ignorance? How do you expect to learn if you are not prepared to listen?
As Muslims, we are ALL obliged to encourage good and forbid evil (sounds like a superhero's motto aye? ) If we cannot do this by our hands, then we do it by our mouths, if we cannot do it by our mouths, then we do it by our hearts-- and this is the lowest level.
I hope you are able to open up a little inshaAllah and see that this forum is not as restricting or controlling as you seem to think-- it is a wonderful place to ask questions, learn about the deen and communicate with a global audience.

Debate is healthy, argument is fruitless.
To debate with another person does not automatically mean that I hate that person. We are merely discussing an issue that concerns us both and inputting both opinion. I love the sister dearly for the sake of Allah, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with them on everything.
Anywho this has digressed waaaaay off topic so I'll go back to my corner now.

Assalamu alaikum wr wb
Whenever you joined certain message boards, all of them have certain rules for the board. When you register and click I agree, it means you agree to all the rules within it. It's what the moderators says that goes.
It is only a big deal if you make it out to be a big deal in not following simple rules that were already there before you registered.
Yes it's people's choice on what they want to do, but as long as it's within the rules and doesnt go against the rules then they can post as they like. IT's nothing to do with control or not it has to do with following the rules.
Not having a picture of an animal or a person as an avatar is not a big deal and arguing about wanting to have it is really no point. I use to have my avatar with my kids on it, and when I joined this site the rules were stated and you know what? I didnt make a huge issue out of it. There are other things happening and not having a picture of something isnt something im going to bring up and complain about it. Especially when this is a free site and no one is paying for it except the webmasters.
The people on this site are too strict and I understand why but they go about telling us how to change the wrong way, it turns off a person from wanting to change.
It has nothing to do with being too strict or not, it has to do with what the rules are. All places wherever you go has certain rules and you have to follow them.
When you're in school, you are not allowed to come to school wearing certain types of clothes or even come to school in your birthday suit. Despite you feel so strongly about it, and it's your choice and all, still doesn't change what the rules state.
When you're driving on the road, a stop sign is there, you stop for the stop sign. When there's a red light you stop for the red light and go for the green light. When there's a yellow light you either slow down or you speed up. Why is that? Cuz certain places have certain rules, same with discussion boards, some allow swearing and some allow inter mingling of the sexes and some allow cyber flirting and all that.
But bottom line is this is an islamic discussion board. It has nothing to do with forcing you to be this way or telling you how to be like, we're not judging you but we're just saying in order to be apart of this forum or participate in this forum you have to respect the rules we have in here, and one of the rules is not having people or animals as your avatar which is not really a huge big deal. People don't really pay much attention to the avatar really as it could represent you, yet it's your words and message that represents you more. Yet dont start off with hostility that you feel it's ok for you to use your picture as you made it and all, doesnt change what the rules say.
If we let you have it then what about the others? There's no favortism here and we cant change the rules just because someone doesnt like it.
I dont like the fact that I have to make a jug handle when I want to go left in NJ, rather than make a left turn...but rules are rules.
I dont really want to have police or border guards searching me and asking me to remove my shoes and socks while they smell them and search me whenever im crossing the borders, yet rules are rules.
We are all welcoming you to this site yet you look at people in a negative way thinking everyone is finding fault in you when that's not it at all.
Usually sisters introduce themselves in a sisters room as it is better, safer for them rather than in a general public forum, despite it's an islamic board there are still some non muslims that frequent here and it's better to be safe than sorry.
Also sis if you have an issue you would like to discuss with the moderators it's best for you to privately send us a message, sister to sister rather than bringing it up here for everyone to discuss as it can cause doubt and suspicion and as some suspicion is a sin it's better to not do it insha'Allah.
Take care
salman

Salamu Alaikum
Cmon people lets keep this on topic -
Sister Mushgan - our apologies if we treated you badly in any way, shape or form. There is tremendous Hikma in following the saynigs of the Prophet - Allah bless him - and the reason why SF does not allow pictures and so forth is due to it prohibition by a number of high ranking scholars.
Ofcourse you have scholars who allow it, but the path of strictness and taqwa is always the safe one. One of of my most beloved and closest friedns told me that the scholars of Syria say:
"Follow a Fatwa that saves you, not one that pleases you"
I hope you forgive our shortcomings and continue posting : )

thank you you are the only one that was nice about it salman. My point to the others wasnt to let me stay in ignorance but there is a proper way of telling someone how to change. I don't like the way they talked to me. Salman, i'll take your advice. Honestly i havent been to this forum in days because i dont agree with many things but thats ok, ill learn to ignore it.
