Assalaamu alaikum

I have seen a lot of sites and leaflets advocating the use of a face mask for both genders to avoid the health risks associated with close conditions.

Given the requirements not to cover the face is it allowable to cover your mouth and nose with a surgical type mask while in Ihram ?

Jazakhallahu khair.

What are the statistics that show how many people catch 'something' when they travel for Hajj (excluding things due to change of water, food, hot, cold etc etc)

as a doctor I do know that current evidence supports that face masks only reduce aerosol contamination for about the first 15min of contact......

i probably wouldn't bother if I went for Hajj myself inshallah - but am asking on behalf of a parent - who will never take medical advice from their children ;)

well I read a long time back, that for men, no stitched garments whatsoever.
so arent the cords stitched to the mask. of course women wear stitched garments during their ihram. so that is a whole different thing.
