Salaam,

If a brother who is joined to a group, for example HT, YMO, IFE/ISB and asks for a sisters hand in marriage who the sister is not joined to any group, then can she refuse this brother as they may differ in their methodology?

She can refuse on any grounds that she pleases. She is not obliged to accept every offer that comes through. Freedom of choice.

If interested then ask the brother to leave such a group if it displeases, if not then the choice remains, yes or no.

However someone can correct me or enlighten me if other inshallah :)

A forced marriage is no marriage at all.

:salam:

A sister may choose to refuse a proposal for whatever reason, though it is recommended in such situations to base one's decision on solid grounds (and not whimsical desires). If she doesn't like the activities the brother is or may be involved in due to his affiliation to a certain group, or let's say his methodology, then she has every right to refuse him.

Allah knows best.

Asalamu alaykum,

I would look deeply into the group that the brother is associated with.

ISB/YM are pretty harmless but being an actual "member" of a group like HT may have increasingly serious implications here in the West [they are already banned in some countries].

I wouldn't say isb/ym are harmless. Not with their increasing modernist tendancies (you know sisters weraing, skintight "fashionable gear", there lax rulings on intermingling of brothers and sisters, there increasing ghair-muqallida etc)

In My view all groups that are not sunni, as well as strict on sharia should be avoided, unless of course the brother is not too caught and would probably leave with a bit of pushing. However if they are deeply involved or been involved for long time it may cause problems later on.
