Yes, Shaykh Khalil al-Husary was known for his Tajweed. He held the title 'Shaykh al-Maqaari'.

Allah blessed the Shaykh with great love for the Qur'an. I read somewhere that he willed 1/3 of his wealth to serve the Qur’an and its memorizers and other charities.
