If, while praying behind the imam someone infront of you leaves for whatever reason, is it permissible to move to fill the gap?

i think you can shuffle forward provicing your feet dont leave the ground.but then i wonder if every onebehind you would have to do the same.

Due to some health problems it may be difficult to answer this question at the moment. Nevertherless, I am hoping that one of the scholars will attempt to answer this question.

Assalamu alaikum wr wb

I've seen people do that right before the salah starts (congregation), so you can move on ahead if no one else seems to be, and yes everyone from behind you or beside you will try to fill in the missing gaps or someone that's there will say hey some extra space and just spread out their body to take on those 2 spaces....

Though if it's during the actual salah, it's best to leave it alone as this could be considered too much movement and too much movement in the salah could invalidate the salah and also seen as disliked.

despite your intention is good and pure. If its before the prayer fill in the gaps... but if its during the prayer its best not to move in there during it, as you're suppose to be looking down not up as to be in total concentration of the prayers, not in seeing the others ahead of you praying.
