Assalamalaikum

The best thing i can suggest is that if possible, find a Hafidh or Aalim in your area under whom you can learn and inshaallah, they will be able to guide you correctly according to your needs. Make sure they teach you with Tajweed though.
Also (general advice), ensure that you read the Qur'an in English aswell (assuming English is your first language). I found this very uplifting.

Sister, may Allah make it easy for you. First you have to learn the Arabic alphabet, and the sounds of each letter. Then it is not too hard inshAllah (God willing) to progress step by step until you can read fluently.

Here is an online course, try this and see how far you can go:

Also, try and find some Muslims ladies near where you live and ask them if they know anyone teaching from beginners level (there must be someone teaching from the basics, because the children of the area will be learning too) and then don't be shy but take the opportunity and slowly but surely, you will learn, inshaAllah.

The Quran in Arabic is absolutely beautiful.

i had a question like i read the Quran in childhood with an Aalim and now im doing under graduation..and i do read the Quran nicely Alhamdullillah and i do prefer reading it with English or whatever one best understands it in( I read the Translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali..it also includes commentary..i heard about this one in one of the lectures by Dr Zakir Naik..) after arabic though as living in the middle east one thing i can tell for sure is arabic is a beautiful language and cant be compared to anything else..

coming back to the subject i do read it fluently alhamdulillah but not sure whether it is exactly like how the Imams recite..the doubt i have that while was reciting once(loudly-meaning with voice) my bro told me its better to recite without voice until i learn it with an Alim..its not that i wont..just that currently i dont have that much time...but nevertheless inshallah i will...so is it wise to stop reading silently or is it ok? i Feel according to my opinion(not sure if its correct) that i read almost similar to the Imams as i pray 3-4 of my salat in Masajid...

And right now im not Arabic speaking tho inshallah i will learn it too...learning Arabic is good...

And i think listening to Quranic CD's or tapes also helps in reciting dont you think?

Jazakallah

Recitation of Quran is not same as reading it, and recitation of the Quran has higher reward.

According to the sharia, the meaning of recitation is that one reads the words, such that one can hear himself(herself). So, insha allah even if you cannot recite as beautifully as the Qaris, please continue to recite The Book of Allah, with a voice :)

I found the following book very helpful in teaching my 6 year old read arabic, alhamdulillah.

http://www.circ.com.au/show_cat.php?catid=2
check out the third book on the link : it is called "Quran reader" by Mahmud A Kurkcu.

They also sell it with a pack or 4 CDs that have instructions for pronounciation.

The book has all instructions in English. The arabic script is very clear, and all instructions are quite simple.

Insha allah it will be of help.

It is said in a hadith, one who recites the book with difficulty gets double the reward of one who is reciting with ease.
May Allah make it easy upon you the learning of His book, for His good pleasure, ameen.

Get a chart with the individual letters written out. Sit with someone and pronounce the letters until you remember what sound each letter makes.

Eventually, you'll move on to connecting them.

It is a gradual process that takes some time and dedication. Start each lesson with the name of Allah and ask Him to make it easy for you. :insh: you will get it.

i want to encourage Everyone here...to PLEASE learn the Quran with TAJWEED. Ur gonna love it.

and learn from a teacher. its so much better and easier! u can't learn on ur own... trust me!

also... just for those who don't know what tajweed is:

it is to recite the Quran in a manner similar to RasulAllah salAllahu alaihi wasallam and to keep in consideration the points of articulation and their pronounciation. TAJWID is to give every letter its right!

waslaam

bottom line is: get a teacher to teach Quran to u ..with tajweed! :)

Assalamu Alaikum,

Masha Allah it's really nice to read that you are intending to learn on how to recite the Quran.

It would help us if you informed us which country you live in so that we can guide you in a better manner to the Female scholars of your local area.
