As salaamu 'alaykum,
Does "al Bidayah wan Nihayah" of ibn Kathir, include "Qasas al Ambiyaa" within it's text.
I just read something somewhere that confused me.
It said it goes from the Middle Ages to the end, but the middle ages begins 500 a.d. which means it would exclude the stories of all but our prophet (SAWS), so was this a mistake on the part of the person who wrote this (it's from an online bookstore) or does al Bidayah wan Nihayah really not cover the stories that are covered in Qasas al Ambiya' namely, all the prophets stories, other than our beloved prophet (SAWS)?
Someone please get back to me about this because I was going to buy al Bidayah wal Nihayah, but I want to make sure it is really what I want first inshaa'allaah.

I've always known them to be two different books.
Qasas being about the Prophets (a), and the Bidayah for the post-Muhammadan (s) period.
Although I could be wrong about the latter.

Al-Bidayah means the beginning. So volume one starts from the beginning of the creation and then it goes onto discuss all the major prophets. The book goes till the time of Ibn Kathir. In other words, that book covers from the beginning of the creation till the era of Ibn Kathir (R.A.) which naturally includes a detailed discussion on many prophets.
Brother, could you please provide the link to that book at the online bookstore.
Salam,
Nazim

Allaah yajzeekum al khair ikhwan.
Here is the link (they have two different prints, one squeezed into two volumes, as well as this one. You could also try Fadakbooks for the Dar al Ma'rifah print inshaa'allaah):

(This site is pretty much jarirbooks.net sister site, wallaahu a'alam)

Akhuwi e-teacher, do suggest al Bidayah wa Nihayah as being the best book to start with in at Taareekh, or are there any other books that are better or more condensed that cover the beginning to the end like this one?

I doubt that even a significant portion of Al Bidayah wa an Nihayah has been translated into English or ever will be.
This once again further reinforces the need to learn Arabic. Until Arabic is learned, the bulk of the vast literature of Islam is out a person's reach.

I heard this encyclopedia is been translated into English by a professorin the USA named Lekhassiq(dont know how to write his name).
I hear it in de tapes of imam Anwar Al Awlaki (seerah of Muhammed pbuh).
this book of Ibn Katheer, handles the beginning (creation) end the ending( judgement day). It also handles all the events that occured untill Ibn Katheers death. (for example: lives of the prophets, seerah of Muhammed,, khilèfèt rashideen, ...)
Please let me know if someone has this book.

Asalamo alikum
Qasas ul Ambiya and Albidaya wa an Nihaya are two separate books by Imam Hafiz imad u din Abu al Fida ibne Kaseer ra.. But in Qasas ul ambiya it includes the chapter from Hazrat Adam AS upto Hazrat Syeduna Isa ibne Maryum AS. I dont find the chapter on which stories of Hazrat Muhammad pbuh is written in this book, may be stories and knowledge about Hazrat Muhammad pbuh is too much so that it would need to write it down in the other separate book..
