Assalm alykum,

Is anyone gonna be going to the aqeedah lesson by the Mufti muhammed ibn Adam this sunday in leicester (UK)? I went to the first and subahnAllah it was brillinat (of course it was only the introduction, yep a six hour long introduction ;) . His going through the aqeedah at-tahawiyah in depth with evidences and everything, and with a 6 hour introdution, imagine what the actual lessons must be like.

Salam,

I thought about going, but i fugured that there wouldnt have been that much point since i have all the shaykh riyadh ul haq cassettes on the subject. But a six-hour introduction!!?? Subhanallah!

Anyway, i just noticed that you too are from Birmingham. Alhamdulillah there are a lot of mosques here, especially where i live, in small heath.

Assalm alykum

Bro abu usama, i too have sheikh riyadh ul haqs cassetess on aqeedah, but that is NOTHING compared to what the mufti is gonna be going through. The mufti will inshAllah be going thyorugh each and every point in the aqeedah at-tahawioyah in depth with all evidecnes refuting everyone of the deivated sects like jamiyah and mutazilah and so on. belive me something like this doesnt happen everyday in brum, you don't know what your missing out on. Sheikh riyadh al-haqs talk was a general overview looking a t one or 2 points here and there in a bit more depth.

Hardly any mosques in my area unfortunaly, in selly park/selly oak. Which mosque do you ususlaly go to in small heath?

Came about?.. It's always been there ;)

Y'all are lucky. All I have are dog eared copies of books by western authors on the topic. Montgomery Watt is a bit odd at times..

:$ What I meant was that there was no need for these books of Aqeeda before, as the Sahaabas used to listen to everything the prophet Muhammad (SAW) said without questioning him. But then after his demise when the Sahaabas were trying to find a khalifa for the muslim Ummah, this is when the different sects came about.

:salam: Brother GenN how did u find the Aqeedah lesson yesterday?

Alahmdullillah, it was ok, however i think there was no need to go into all the logical proof of god at the beginning, cos we were all muslims in there and considering that we were all educatd in a western world the proof of god is one thing most of us would be familiar with, and especially cos the proof of god was a n in depth topic in its own right, and the mufti had to continue saying i can't go into depth about this right now (cos of lack of time and all) so i feel he should have breifly mentioned it and gone onto the book, but alhamdulillah there was still valuable things to be picked up.

The rest of the lesson was good alhamdullillah, i now understand exactly how ibn taymiyyah differed and that indeed he was still ahlul sunnah, however i spoke to the mufti afterwards, and the salafis don't exactly follow ibn taymiyah in aqeedah, but thats another story.

Unfortunatly after lunch, i began to feel a bit drowsy towards the end ;) so i couldnt concentrate, but i will go over this second lesson once its been uploaded to edars Inshallah.

what about yourself bro, howd you find it?

Alhamdulillah it was really good and informative, i dont think mufti will go into as much detail for the other points as he did yesterday. I fell asleep after lunch, ;) it was well hot in the room. Main reason why i think he went in to detail about the logical proof of God in the beginning, was so we know how to react with athiests. Allahu Alam. 2 more lessons 2 go, InshaAllah wel finish the book by the end of it. I think il listen to this one again on e dars, i missed quite a bit. :$ Wasalaam

lol, i don't think it was only us falling asleep most of us probably were, cos as you say it was hot in there, and the mufti knew it (that we were falling asleep) remeber he mentioned it and then asked us all which point in the book we were on to see if we were awake or not and there was almost complete silence

Salam,

Is the first lesson already uploaded? What is edars? And also, could the brother elaborate on ibn taymiyyah and why he was ahlul sunnah in aqeedah and why the salafis arent?

Assalm alykum,

its a lenghty discussion about ibn taymiyyah, and thers a couple of background points that need to be understood first. its better if you listen to the whole talk. inshallah it will be uploaded to edars.com soon.
