Salaam,

I know mufti Muhammad has said on his website, www.daruliftaa.com, that in order for a conditional divorce, to take place, that the condition has to be uttered verbally. For example if Karim says to his wife, "if you lie, you are divorced", then upon her lying, she would be divorced once.

But what about if one has a condtion in his mind, and he's thinking about her lying. And so Karim says" if she does that, she is divorced". Is that a conditional divorce? is that anything? Because Karim didn't actually state the condition.

Please let me know as soon as you can

As Salaamu Alaykum,

I believe that the best person to answer this question would be Maulana Ziad. I will request him to answer the question as soon as he can as he has dealt with a few similar questions.

Another question I have for maulana Ziad is what if Karim thinks about his wife lying about something, and so he says"If she lies about that, she is divorced". Would this count as anything seeing as how it is more specific but, again, Karim hasn't stated about what lie he would divorce her on.
