Asslamo Allaikum Brother,

Maulana Maududi (RA) was a great social scientist and his analysis of the downfall of the Muslims in his book "Khilafat/Moulokiyat" is second to none

He was not too good in Fiqh as some of the his opinions are 'absurd' such as wrapping your feet in a piece of cloth and making Masah (see Assan Masail by Maulana Islahi)

He had no formal training in Islamic Fiqh and no Ijazah similar to Al-Albani (RA); therefore he has made errors.

Just before someone starts labelling me as a staunch deobandi, please consider two points:

1) Every single person who started Jamaate-e-Islamic with him (originally), left him

2) Dr Israr Ahmed, his right hand man left him in 1967 and wrote a thesis on Maulana Maududi & it is second to none in highlighting his errors & errors of Jamaat-e-Islami

1) Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) stated that Khilafa Ala Minjahun-Nubbuwaah will last for 30 years and Muwaiyya (RA)'s time is NOT within 30 years and the Hadeeth states that after 30 years it will be Molookiah!

2) It is a book of Dr Israr Ahmed "Jamaat-e-Islami Ka Tahqeeqi Jaiza" and NOT available on-line.

According to Dr. Israr Ahmed, his differences with Maududi are only political but religious.

why not just forget the late chap and his books.
when i came to islam, his books were among the few islamic literature available in english and i happened to benefit from TOWARDS UNDERSTANDING THE QURAN.

but that was 16 years ago!

better to read books of rightly guided 'ulama - preferably 200 years old or more.

Maulana Maududi (RA) [Mufti Taqi Usmani; no less calls him that] was an intelligent man and did some great social analysis of the downfall and failure of the Ummah, his works in this area are brilliant (See first part of Khilafat/Mulooqiaat) ; however he goes wrong in 2 areas:

1) When he tries to comeup with a solution in the light of Qur'aan and Sunnah as he had not formal learning and education in this area (See 2nd part of Khilafat/Mulooqiaat where all the errors are)

2) When he tries to delve into Fiqh as again he had no formal learning and education in this area

His political work and straw-man of modern Khilafah (i.e. Republic in nature) are also brilliant

i dont think you need to be a great scholar to understand that criticising the sahabah ra is totaly wrong.

ive noticed that the followers of mawdudi do seem to blasai with shiasm and their slander of the sahabah ra. they think its ok
