Maybe its already under consideration but i think its needed to be done fast!

Threads are shifting down and to the next page at a very fast rate in Islamic section. So new users or even those who visit the forum after 2-3 days wont be able to keep up with discussions.

Forum breakdown is necessary i think.

Any thoughts on how to break down the existing ones into new ones ?

I agree. I think the one needed immediately is "Debates", where controversial topics can be discussed. The general section seems to have been taken over, and I'm having a hard time keeping up as well.

Saleel, please work on this asap, and move all threads with long discussions and debates to this section, if you see fit.

Jazakallah-hu-khairan.

this is exactly what we need!

too many muslim message boards have been afflicted with excessive argumentation.

rarely do people actually change their opinion on a debated issue.

it is for good reason that some messageboards like www.jannah.org have gone so far as to ban certain types of discussions.

perhaps banning is too much, but for the sake of preserving and promoting beneficial threads...i think we really need a seperate forum for debates.

Assalamu alaikum wr wb

actually this scrolling is nothing compared to other boards that had pages of threads, that would take you about an hour to even 4 hours to go through. Trust me I know.

Though if you create seperate forums just for Debates and heated discussions that could help seperate. Maybe adding a daily hadith/verse/quote forum as well for all those, and even a stories/jokes section to seperate it. Perhaps ask ppl to post only general topics in the g eneral and ? fiqh related in the islam q and a and if its a bro type of ? to leave it for the bro general or bro q and a and if its a sister's Q leave it in their forum. Such as if a bro wants to discuss length of beard and goes into description of how long his beard is or isn't migh be better well suited in the bro's general room rather than the public one, as the sisters or anyone might be thinking or trying to vision the bro's beard's description. Same would go for sisters discussing hijab issues, if she's discussing how she wears her hijab bros will be thinking or trying to invision that in their minds which might cause fitnah. Allahu Alim.

I just know that whenever there are conventions and halaqoh events going on, everyone hears about whose going and theyre' focused on looking for that person just by the description they gave to people about them. It's an ackward situation, like what do you think or say when you see the person? wow masha'Allah that's so and so... oh like hey how's it going it's me blah blah. Which is incredibly ackward and embarassing on my part because i dont really like all that attention... for my kids wise or my wise.
People know me for my kids.. a lot of ppl only talk to me because of my kids. I think if my kids werent here, they wouldnt talk to me.. and that's being honest. Allahu Alim.

But yes perhaps seperating the forums between what's the hot topics and all will help break it down for the newbies.
Though reading a page of threads is fine.

Back to the topic. I think a section on "In depth" islamic discussion will add more to Moderators work, like we are puting it on user's discretion to choose whats indepth and whats not, and since there are many not so knowledgeable people like me out there so how come one will be able to know where exactly to post?

I suggest we have sections on:

1] "Discussion among muslims and non muslims"

2] "Section for posting islamic articles" (articles should not be there in general discussion.

So, any further thoughts ?
