:salam:

There are people who say that anasheed (even without musical instruments) is forbidden...I dont know much about the dalil they give...but they regard it as 'singing' (even without instruments) and as a distraction. (in this book called a madinan view by al qayrawani on page 139 its also mentioned as forbidden, by saying that al mujahid said that singing is a part of falsehood regarding to surah luqmaan: 5, fatawa rahimiyya says the same)

So maybe one has an article that mention these details and state that its ok to listen to it...

Must be in here somewhere:

S'not the majority position in the Hanafi madhab that it's impermissable though.

Just to give an unbiased view of that book 'a madinan view'. There is a note in that chapter which states that there are different cases of fiqh. And that in each case the intention, content, performers and audience regarding to music is different. And that a fuqaha does not rush into judgements on these issues and does not issue a fatwa unless he has a mandate from an islamic ruler or from his betters in fiqh, and that he knows that his fatwa will be carried out. (i just summarised in different wording because i dont want to see myself transgressing the copyrights)

Fatawa rahimmiya is still very strict though.

nasheed probably means just any song , that's why you have اناشيد اسلامية (http://www.alboaba.8m.net/albooaba.htm)
