Hello Everyone!
I am new to this forus and am interested in Islam and becoming a Muslim. I am not sure if this is where I am suppose to post this message. I would like to know if there are any recommended books or web sites that would benefit me or would all web sites be beneficial. i do not know exactly what I can or cannot write in here so please forgive me and please educate me on what is allowed and set me on the right path.
I am from Australia and I have never been a religious person but of late I am being drawn into the Islam world and I am finding peace and a lot of calm. I read a post from a sister who had her parents disown her for converting (reverting) and I feel that this may also be the case for me. I know my parents are a little uneasy but I hope they would not disown me but there is always that possibilty when it came down to it.
My friends are also sceptical and feel that I am changing into something that they are not used to but I feel that I am the same person though a little more confident on what my purpose is. I am talking and educating my friends and my family as best I can but how can I do it more so so they would understand? Or is the answer as simpy as patience and putting faith and trust in Him?
I would like to know also if it is allowed for a non-muslim to enter a mosque and speak to an Iman about Islam? Or is there a better or more effective way of going about this?
I hope that this post is ok and if there was anything i have said that was offensive or not allowed, I do apologise and ask for your forgiveness. Jazakualla. (That is the only word I really know hot to say!)
Have a good day.

It is vry good to see tht someone is coming to the right path i.e. ISLAM. May Allah help u in yr efforts.
I can recommend you some books but it will be more beneficial for you to consult a certified Islamic Scholar.
All the websites wont be benificial for u. some popular recommended websites are http://www.muftisays.com(UK based), www.darulifta-deoband.org(this website is of India's best muslim university which has a reputation of having world class certified Islamic scholars.) u can ask them questions regarding anythng and i hope insha allah they will help u out.
I hav one request for u. plz always prefer to ask questions to certified Islamic scholars becuz they hav vast knowledge of islam and insha allah they will help u to do things according to the sayings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Above all allah knows the best.
Sister, May Allah help u in the search of the Truth and bestow His blessings and bounties on you and on all the muslim Ummah...

Hey newuseraus! :) welcome to sunniforum! Hope ur stay here will be beneficial.
you say u r drawn towards Islam; that is an excellent news! I hope that Allah makes your journey to accept Islam as your way of life, an easy one and all the obstacles be removed from your way to the Truth.
If you sincerely believe in your heart that there is only One God (Allah) and that Muhammad is the final Messenger and Prophet of God, THEN you are already a Muslim. :)
I am from Australia and I have never been a religious person but of late I am being drawn into the Islam world and I am finding peace and a lot of calm. When you believe in Allah, there is no worry.. you know in your heart that He will make everything easy for you and whatever will happen will be for the good. You just have to Trust in Allah.
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
"Allah! There is no god but He: and on Allah, therefore, let the Believers put their trust." (64:13)
..and not every new muslim's parents feel too strongly about their son/daughter 's conversion to Islam. A friend of mine recently converted to Islam and her parents didn't feel like it was a big deal. They said it was her choice! I hope that your parents also find it in their hearts to accept you as a muslim. Hope for the best! :)
I would like to know also if it is allowed for a non-muslim to enter a mosque and speak to an Iman about Islam? Or is there a better or more effective way of going about this?
Yes, non-muslims are allowed to enter the mosque and speak to an imam about Islam... in fact, your more than welcome to go to the mosque and i would encourage you to speak to the imam and ask questions about Islam.
Also, if you have questions you would like to ask, please ask here and also contact scholars from the websites the brother posted above.
take care and remember just be sincere and God-willing you will accept Islam. :)
peace!
