I don't know about him, but I ask Allah to not let this thread break out in another music/instruments halal or haram debate.

True though..I listened to it for a while, for some reaso I liked the fusion of the arabic with his singing style, and his lyrics were good and meaningful...
However,
I couldn't put off the fact that there was music and thus...it's back to kamal uddin and Ahmed Biukhatir *Rolls Eyes* when it comes to nasheeds...
assalamu alaykum
My claim to fame.... I lived with his wife :P

I'm not really fond of his music to be honest. But the lyrics alone on a peice of paper would be better.

I hate it when they ruin a nasheed by adding music.
A new nasheed singer called Asif Choudhury uses background sounds of drums made vocally (not instruments). However, irrespective of whether or not the origin is artifical, it ruins the nasheed IMO. It seriously sounds more like a rap and ruins the meaning of the lyrics. Here are some samples: http://www.slaveofallah.net/audio.htm (listen to 'The Search' and 'Salaat' for example).
Incidentally, would it be permissible to listen to nasheeds which have sounds in the background made vocally, intended to represent the beating of drums and music etc given that playing musical instruments in itself is completely haram?

Islamic injunction is on music , not only instruments.. For this reason any music made by only verbal use.. like those instrumentals (in which they only use their vocal chords) is also under the same injunction..

yes ; at the begining it was difficult for me to hear nasheeds without instruments but now it is all ready the opposites . With instruments , it's sound most of the time like pop music , fan clubs ...
PS: there is a new album from Ahmed Bukhatir called " Hassanat " ; great like allways ...

there are 'external' musical instruments used, but nevertheless the message embedded within the strong is very good; not to say that it compromises the music. I quite like 'Your beauty' and 'Mountain'
