View Full Version : Muslimah in the south

Asalaamualaikum wa ramatullah,
I am new to the forum and just wanted to say hello to all of the sisters and brothers. I am a new Muslimah. I made my shahada 06-24-07, Alhamdullilah.
I am in Augusta, GA and I am a student. I haven't seen many muslimahs in my city who cover the way I do :( . I wear hijab and I only show my face and hands. Subhan Allah. I would like to mention that I am not familiar with the different schools of thought. I did not know the names of them until running into this website. If anyone can elaborate on them, I'd appreciate it.

Wa Alaykum Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu
Welcome sister and congratulations on your conversion! Alhamdulilah you have joined a community of over 1.5 billion.
Regarding the four schools of thought, please read the following articles sister
What is a Madhhab?
Why is it necessary to follow one?
Understanding the Four Madhabs http://www.masud.co.uk/ISLAM/ahm/newmadhh.htm
Unity Through Schools of Thoughts
Shaykh Murabtal Haaj's Fatwa on Following One of the Four Accepted Madhabs
My advice would be to take one step at a time and not rush things since you are a new convert and do not think that you have to learn things all at once - Just take baby steps.
Hoep that all helps Insha'Allah and May Allah make it easy for you. Ameen.

All praise is due to Allah. All worship is due to Allah.
As salaamu alaikum wa ramatullah,
Mulsimah in the south. Lonely but not alone. As I mentioned I made my shahada 06-24 and I praise Allah for it because I would not have if it wasn't for Allah. I wear hijab because Allah saved me and to show love, I obey. I praise Allah for this too. Not self-praise for what I do but praise be to the Most High for being given the chance to do what I ought to do. Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon all of the Prophets and Messengers and us all. Thank you all for the info to learn about the Madhhabs (hope that is the correct plural form if not please correct me).

As Salaam Alaykum.
My dear and respected sister welcome to the Deen of Islam and the Sunni Forum.
I just like to point out that our dear and respected teacher May Allah preserve him, Uses the Quote "Self Praise is no recommendation" at the Bottom of all his posts. So fear not he was'nt referring to you.
So anyways My dear sister I pray that Allah provides you with all that is good and protects you from all that is harmful, may all your difficulties be turned into ease, and may your heart be filled with peace and tranquility ameen.
