A few books that i benefited from and i felt they might help others too:

1. "Fadhail-e-Haj" by Shaykhul Hadeeth Muhammad Zakariya (rahmatullah alayhi)
this book really makes a person enthusiastic for hajj and visiting madina with its collections of relevant ahadith, anecdotes, stories of the pious and humble commentary from the esteemed author. good for building enthusiasm for the holy places.

2. "Women's Guide to Hajj and Umra" by Mufti Muhammad Faruq
An excellent guide to Hajj which has special significance for our sisters bcos it contains a Q & A section too addressing a number of delicate womens issues aswell as common misconceptions concerning all.
even tho the book is titled with 'Women', it is equally applicable to men.
for more details ring: Darul Ilm wal Huda in Blackburn (sorry, dont have the number at hand)

3. "Women's Guide in Madina Munawwarah" similar to above book but regarding the 2nd haram.

4. Hajj Guides by Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat / fisabilillah publications.
an excellent clear, concise, pocket book guide to hajj.
check their websites for more info.

if anyone can post up the contact / ordering details for the above books i would appreciate it. i dont have that facility at the mo.

please add any more beneficial publications for the hajjis.

Would anyone recommend using ibn Baz's hajj guide? My sis is using it this year I think, and I know he is salafi, but do you think it would contain misguidance, since its just a guide (theres some stuff at the back about those ahadith relating to visiting the Prophets (SAW) grave and about how theyre all false)

Sister, why would anyone want to go for "out of date" apples, when you have "full ripen" ones? hmm.....

I am not saying its full of misguidance, but why go for that book, when you have doubt on its authenticity.

the brother put some really useful books at the top....lets use books from "sound, scholary" background authors..hmm....

Its not me, its my sister, you see. They're very ignorant about the whole salafi thing. You know the salafis are very deceptive and convincing.

KITAABUL HAJJ

INTRODUCTION

There are many books, elaborate as well as concise, on the subject of Hajj, Masha-Allah! Some of these books are in great detail covering all questions and aspects pertaining to Hajj. However, some friends have requested for a book of average degree on the subject of Hajj- a book which is neither too detailed nor too brief- so that the masa-il could be easily learnt and remembered. Thus, this booklet is the consequence of this request and wish of friends.

While it has been endeavoured to refrain from excessive detail which makes remembering difficult, the brevity of the booklet is not such which, excludes even the details which occur in abundance. May, Allah Ta'ala in His Infinite Grace and Kindness accept, this humble effort and may He confirm it a benefit for the Ummah, Ameen thumma Ameen.

The ones by Maulana Saleem Dhorat? He has a series of small booklets and other items on Hajj/Umrah which you can buy from here: http://www.idauk.org/index.html (check under the 'Going for Hajj' box)

Also see: http://www.idauk.org/pub/bklts/h&u.html

The booklets are very useful, masha-Allah.

:salam:

I have a copy of this book available to anyone that would like it. Alhamdulillah it's totally different from anything else on Hajj, it's quite challenging to the the thought process and not a ritualistic book at all.

If anyone is interested then feel free to PM me.

assalamualikum, for a maliki sheikh bin baz's book is no use as it will hold the hanbali opinion.

Just becuase he is "salafi" does not mean his books are full of misguidance. If his books are based on strong evidence and contain correct and authentic information, then it can be followed. Just because a scholar has certain differences of opinion to another, does not mean everything he says is wrong.
