Nahw Books... advanced books in nahwv with deep commentary on the solving of ibarat...and more importantly how many ways the ibarat can be solved...i was able to come up with 5 different solutions of an ibarat once :)... obviously the meaning changed and i got a spanking everytime from my ustadh for the wrong meaning...
please give me links to the texts that you talk about... i dont need translation... that is what nahw is all about...reading without translation...i hope that the texts dont have harkaat...it would destory the purpose :(
i want to dazzle the two angels with my nahw and sarf when they come and ask me Murr Rabbuka (who is your lord) - with Mun Istahfamiya
I will reply the sme Murr Rabbuka (That Who is your Lord)- with Mun Mausula...
I know it is a cranky sort of a joke ;) and is related to some famous nahw genious... sipway...i think!

Is the fourth volume of Arabic Tutor (on al-inaam.com) the final volume of the book series?
Also does Arabic tutor teach only Nahw, or does it fully teach Sarf as well as fully teach Nahw ?

As salaam alaikum,
I just started trying to learn Quranic arabic and I found this arabic forum very useful. I found out about some wonderful material from this thread and would like to thank all involved. Knowing what your reciting just makes you feel so much more satisfied and I'm very hopeful i'll start meaning it soon.
Now getting to my query. I'm making a slow and steady progress with my learning, but at the moment I am stuck trying get a word for word translation of some specific duas I need. I have the translation of the entire dua in English but I find a word for word translation far more effective.
Does anyone know of an online (or print) dictionary or translation tool that could help me translate classical arabic. I have the compilation of words from the Quran and grammar references and stuff like that but nothing I search through by word. Any suggestions ?

Please let me know of your experiences. I learnt initially from Arabi ka mu'allim. I enjoyed these lessons. Then I tried teaching these books in 1999 to a group of first year students with very little success.
I have not spoken to Mawlana Ebrahim about this and it seems that the book works fine for the students at Camperdown. Please let me have your own impressions.

I’ve taught using the Arbi ka Muallim books. When I first started teaching, I didn’t have access to the English versions, so I would take one lesson at a time, rearrange the format and type it up in English using Inpage. I found that by taking the lesson a whole and rearranging the information into my own words and delivering it as a one hour lesson, was alot more effective than teaching it from the book. The next lesson would be spent testing the students and using examples on the board to reinforce the grammar rules taught. The third lesson would be spent on the exercises in the book and other examples taken from other nahw/sarf books.
When we found the English versions ‘Arabic Tutor’ I stopped my own translations and switched to these books instead. I also passed the lessons on to someone else to teach as I found the English terms used in the book didn’t flow from my tongue as easily as using the Arabic terminology.
We’ve discussed it on this forum previously; please see http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/showthread.php?60804-Arabic-Tutor-(-Arabee-Kaa-Mu-allim)-by-Maulana-Abdus-Sattar-Khan

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
a very good scanned copy of الدروس النحوية (four parts) is available here (http://www.4shared.com/file/GeKPlKab/_____1234.html)
it is all in arabic. but shaykh Amr at lisanularab has recommended it highly. i suppose it shouldn't be a problem if you are studying with a teacher, or you have already reached the required level to handle an arabic only text.

This seems to be the best starting place for me too. Being such an old book I wonder if it's availible legally as a free download? Since I'm in China it's a bit tricky getting the book hard copy. so this woudl be best first if possible. Looked online but so far not found.
