Asslamo Allaikum,

In one of the Mosque Ramadhan timetable (UK) it says that it is Makruh to open Fast with anything cooked on Fire in the Hanafi Madhab and the evidence is in Mishkaat (514/2) and mentioned Shar'h of Mishkaat.

Hadeeth is not mentioned, can someone relate it for me as I don't have Mishkaat?

Jazakullah Khairun

The messenger Sallahu Alaihi wa sallam said: when one of you do Iftaar then do it on dates because it is Barakah. If he does not find (any dates) then do Iftaar on water because it is pure. (Tirmithi 658 Abu dawood 2355 Ahmed 4/17) Mishkaat 1990

Anas Ra narrates that The Messenger Sallahu Alaihi wa sallam would break his fast before he performed Salah on some fresh dates, if the were none then on some dry dates and if these were also not available then he would drink some sips of water. (Tirmithi 696 abu Dawood 2356) Mishkaat 1991

Under this Hadith Mulla Ali Qaari writes in Mirqaat: And this is also narrated by Abu Ya'laa and his words are: The messenger Sallahu Alaihi wa sallam liked doing Iftaar on three 3 dry dates or anything that fire had not touched (uncooked). (Mirqaatul Mafaatih 4/424)

And Allah Ta'ala knows best.
