Regarding the popups, I do not think they have anything to do with SF. There may be some "spyware" installed on your computer. Try running Ad-Aware (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5). It usually helps. (Remember: after you have installed it, before scanning your computer, download and install the update file).
