Hazrat Shah Ismail Shahid [r.h] was fighting against the Sikhs on May 09, 1831. A sikh – in front of Shah Ismail Shahid [r.h] called names against our beloved Prophet :saw: . Instantly Shah Ismail Shahid [r.h] got vexed and uttered –

“By Allah! I would not die before I kill you!” Suddenly another kafir – standing right behind struck Hazrat with a sword and chopped his head off; Hazrat’s head fell on the ground…..

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam informed in one Hadith, “There are some slaves of Allah :taala: , if they utter something by the Name of Allah Ta’la – He fills the desire of those slaves”.

This promise of Allah Ta’la got true in case of Shah Ismail Shahid [r.h]. Allah Ta’la exposed the Spiritual power of his friend.

Though beheaded, Hazrat threw his sword [which was in his hand] at the kafir who ran off just after calling names against our Prophet; the kafir at that time was 220 yards far trying his best to flee. However the desire of Allah Ta’la has resembled his friend’s wish…..! The culprit was killed by the sword of Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid [r.h], which chased him all the way and struck him brutally. And finally a Star of Islam, a Great Lover of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam got Martyred. O Allah….Bless him with Your Greatest of Honors! Ameen.

Shah Ismail Shahid [r.a] does make us remember the Great Shuhada: Hazrat Hamza [r.a],Hazrat Abdullah Ibne Zubayer [r.a], and Hazrat Khabbab [r.a].

From page 38, the PRELUDE of the book (Taqwiat-ul-Iman) says,

" The prevalent conditions:

The present day situation is that the people have adopted different ways. Some of them pursue the traditions cherished by their forefathers, some swear by the methodologies devised by the saints, some proffer the self-proclaimed observations of the scholars as an evidence whereas some merely run their own conjectures and poke their nose into matters of religion on the pretext of using their intellect.

The best choice:

The best possible option is that we should regard Qur'an and Sunnah as a yardstick of excellence, refrain from interfering into the matters concerning the Islamic law by applying our intellect into it and must slake the thirst of our soul by resorting to these two affluents (i.e. Qur'an and Sunnah). We must recognize the sayings of the saints, observations of the scholars and the customs observed within one's community in case the said things confirm to the standards set forth by Qur'an and Sunnah and likewise we should rejectfully shun them in case they do not.

It is not an uphill task to understand religion:

A myth which has gained much currency among the masses is that to have understanding of Qur'an and Hadith is a difficult taks for it requires a lot of knowledge and as long as we are ignorants, we can neither understand it nor we could act upon it. Only the saints and pious people possess the capability to act accordingly. This notion which is nursed by them is absoultely baseless because Allah the Exalted has stated that the verses of the Noble Qur'an are explicit and conspicuously clear as mentioned in the following verse:

"And indeed We have sent down to you manifest Ayat (verses) and none disbelieve in them but the Fasiqun (those who rebel against Allah's Command)." (V.2:99)"

I don't know who wrote this Prelude but from what was said in it, it can be a cause of confusion for some.
