Brother, I think you mean Dr. "Surty" not "Suyuti".

Regarding your question, no, they are different books.

The "Madinah books", (technically called "Durus al-lughat al-'arabiyyah") were authored by Dr. V. Abdur Rahim

(which can be found here http://www.islamicbookstore.com/b6067.html)

while the book by Dr. Surty is entitled "Towards Understanding Quranic Arabic"

(and can be found here http://kitaabun.com/shopping3/product_info.php?products_id=1194).

Insha'allah this will help.

Salaam,

The difference between the two books (i think) is that Dr Surty's book is solely Quranic Arabic and the madinah books are modern day arabic language (unless im wrong).

But at the end of the course Dr Surty will recommend a voacb book to us which will enable us to pick up modern day arabic.

Brother i haven’t studied the madinah books, seen them around though. I'm just wondering where is this course taught in Bham and who is the teacher?
