ASAK Folks,

Can anyone post the words of this poem by Hassan Bin Thabit RA ? I've tried to find online but could not.

It starts with As Subhu Bada' min tala'atihi
Here is the audio link

As Subhu Bada Min (http://www.dawateislami.net/services/radio/vram/551.ram)

As an aside, it made me sad to realize that even the works of a companion of the Prophet SAWS are not translated into English and made readily available on the net. It points to how much the Muslim literary machinery's got to catch up to do justice to itself. The UN report on development of Muslim countries last year mentioned that Spain alone translates more books in a year than all the 51 muslim countries put together.....

Assalamalaikum.

Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi, the most famous Pakistani naat khwaan/munshid has been singing this particular qasida for over 40 years now. He was telling us that he was not aware of it's origins until very recently someone did some research and found out that it is by Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi (Allah be well pleased with him).

Wallahu 'Alam...

*****************************

English translation:
The morning light is by your countenance,
And the splendour of the night by your plaits.
The master is a treasure of grace,
The master is a treasure of mercy.
He is the guide of the whole community,
And the one who shows the way of the Sacred Law.
They came upon the gesture of a finger,
Stones from the Hijaz began to speak.
And the moon was split in two,
By a single gesture of the finger.

On the night of the Ascension,
The Archangel Gabriel came with tidings of God.
Allah called him to the heavens,
[And] bestowed upon him the
honour of intimacy.
