Assalamu Alaikum

I came across the book Tadhkarat-ul-Auliya by Fariddun Attar. Does it contain authentic information? Who was Fariddun Attar?

Do you have the Urdu or the English translation by the Hindu holy-man Bankey Behari (I think that's his name)?

Yes that one
Read it with a pinch of salt for obvious reasons.

The Urdu translation of the original Persian, which is more accurate. There's also an English translation I have on PDF by Arberry. However, I've never had the time to go through it properly.

I was looking through the book and came across the following:

Fariduddin Attar starts his biographical sketch of this great saint Mansur with the comment:

" ...........You can revere a tree if the sound Anal Haq ( i am the truth ) comes out of it , but you put to the gibbet a human being if he utters the same words. You should know that all such great saints who utter such words in ecstacy are merely speaking through the tounge of their lord. It is God who is speaking thorugh them. Their self is dead."

????????????????????????

Who do the ulama say of Fariddun Attar?

BTW this book was bought from Darul Uloom Al Madania, Buffalo
