Anyone know/heard of the Arabic degree at the European Institute?

I wanted some info on it as I heard the arabic course there is regarded by many as being better than in syria/egypt.

It would have to be in France, because the teaching of Arabic there has a very long history. There are currently several institutions in France were Arabic is taught at various levels. I think the institution you are referring to is INALCO which is a famous ‘grande école’ where over 90 'oriental' languages are taught. Apart from classical and modern standard Arabic, you can also study various eastern and western Arabic dialects as well as Maltese:

http://www.inalco.fr/ina_gabarit_rubrique.php3?ctx=dept&id_rubrique=47&id_departement=7&ina_rubrique_departement=1189

You can also combine credits acquired at INALCO with Arabic studies at the Sorbonne:

You will find all the details on these two websites.

Here's the link to the website of the institute that I think you are talikng about:

http://www.iesh.fr/Html/C_present.htm
(Please not that you might have to wait for a few seconds for the webpage to load and that the page will appear in French).

The website can be viewed in English, Arabic and French.

As far as I know, they don't do an Arabic degree but a Shariah degree (the duration of the degree is 3 years), which is taught in Arabic. However, they do have a 2 year course for those who do not know Arabic.

Also, the institue has 2 teachers that have Ijazah (license) to teach the Qur'an in 10 Qiraa'aat (recitations) with a chain(s) going back to the prophet, peace be upon him. They also recently held a Sahih al-Bukhari course where participants were given Ijazah with a chain going back to the prophet, peace be upon him.

Please see their website for more information.

salaam,

Yeah sorry I meant the two year diploma, not degree. I'm aware of the website was just wondering if anyone on here had been there or heard first hand from students who had studied there.
