As salaamu alaykum. This question is perhaps best answered by those who have a familiarity with traditional Islamic education in the modern age.
Which institutes (2-5) would you consider to be among the best places to study Hadith and it's related disciplines? And among these 2-5 institutes, if you had to pick just one that you would recommend people study at, which one would it be?
I do not have too much knowledge about the matter, but I am thinking that the Dar al Hadith in Syria (http://www.muhaddith.org/about_dar_al_hadith.html) might be the best place to study since their tradition of hadith scholarship goes back to Ibn Salah, author of "Muqaddima ibn Salah", but then again, this is just my uninformed opinion.
I would also think that whatever institutes that the students of Habib al-Rahman al-A`zami (if he produced any) would have to rate highly in your pick for the top 2-5 institutes at which to study hadith.
Note: I do understand that many of the greatest scholars in the world are not associated with any institute whatsoever and teach in the traditional, direct student-teacher manner, but right now I am asking about institutions.
