Bismillah

Asslamu 'Alaykum

I would like to know what is the general ruling in Hanafi Fiqh on praying salaah in the aeroplane while the plane is flying and the time of Salaah has entered?

Jazak'Allah Khayr

It is absolutely necessary to perform the salah.
One should perform it standing, facing the Qiblah.

If one if not able to do so, even after requesting permission, then he should sit and perform the salah and then repeat it upon reaching his destination.

And Allah Ta'ala knows best

Do we do qaza for it?

You could call it qada. It is more of a precautionary qada, due to one having neglected an important fard in his salah.

And Allah Ta'ala knows best

Does one have to re-pray it if one had prayed the Salaah standing?

There is no need to repeat, if performed standing.

What if one can perform it standing, but it isn't possible to face the qiblah? Should one also in that case repeat the prayer when the plane lands?

If we then verify thereafter that the direction we've prayed was within 45° away from qibla, does it still need to be repeated?

(1) Isn't there a hadith where the Prophet sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam prayed whilst sitting on his camel? If so, why would one need to repeat his prayer if he prayed whilst sitting in the airplane?

(2) Why would the prayer need to be repeated if one prayed facing the wrong qiblah (because in a plane, its difficult to find the qiblah). I thought in the Hanafi school, if one prayed facing the wrong qiblah (without knowing), then such a prayer would not have to be repeated.

Assalamualaikum.

I will insyaallah be traveling from the UK back to Brunei, which is like a 14 hour flight and I don't know whether I should be praying or not, because I don't know which prayer time to follow. Do I follow the prayer times in the UK or in Brunei?

while travelling we always pray in jamaat and have found the stewards very helpful in assisting us we were always very curtious and they helped the only problem i ever faced was from a muslim unfortunately but my best advice is to talk to a local imam in person as im sure he can clear up the other issues such as qibla ectc.

It is not allowed without a genuine reason. If you have a good enough reason, as Mufti Sahib already mentioned, you can pray sitting down.

(2) Why would the prayer need to be repeated if one prayed facing the wrong qiblah (because in a plane, its difficult to find the qiblah). I thought in the Hanafi school, if one prayed facing the wrong qiblah (without knowing), then such a prayer would not have to be repeated.

Facing the wrong Qibla means that you were not aware of the right direction in the first place. On a plane, if you know the direction and you start praying towards it and then the plane changes direction, you have to change with it. If you don't, you will not be facing the Qibla deliberately and this breaks the Salah. Alternatively, if you didn't know the direction in the first place, then you don't have to repeat Salah.

Our Imam sahib said that if there is a proper place and it is possible for you to pray there, you must pray there otherwise you can pray sitting. Don't know if you would have to repeat though.

Yes, then too one should repeat the salah

Isn't it that in this case because of difficulty it is waived ?
