Assalamualikum sister.

No need to get fustrated sis. I never had islamic books for my boys till recently, since we don't get it where i live. But children at a very young age.. like you said 3-5 years cannot read on their own properly yet. So we have to be reading to them. You can 'islamize' any book you pick up and explain to your kids about Allah and the greatness of Allah. I would normallly read to them any book, then say in my own words how Allah made these things (animals, trees, beach, etc). It works very good for them.
I had also made my own little book for them, with pictures from the net., since I was not able to get any islamic book. The kids really loved the book.
However only recently I got some very nice islamic books from the Azhar Academy in London. You can check out their site
www.azharacademy.com
You have all different sort of books about the prophets for kids. At the moment I read Quran Stories For Kids to my boys. They enjoy it so much....they look forward to it everynight before going to sleep. Sometimes I may be tired and forget but these boys never forget. They make sure either their dad or mum read to them.
Reading to kids is very necessary. They remember everything we read or explain to them at this very young age. I am glad you are eager in reading good books to your kids. I hope you get nice islamic books which will benefit your kids.

Hello???

Help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I think it would help if you let us know which country you reside in so that we can guide you to the appropriate bookstore.

Not every bookstore carries every Islamic book for kids.

:salam:

Idara.com carries books for children (http://www.idara.com/store/children-books/cat_4.html). They also ship worldwide. The prices are in Indian Rupees, and if you convert them into your own currency, chances are it's going to be very cheap. It's even worth the purchase including air shipping.
Allaah knows best.

السلام عليكم,

But what's with all the pictures in these childrens' books? It's so hard to find "Islamic" books for children that don't have animated cartoons in them...

Assalamu Alaikum,

I'm a pre-k teacher (3, 4, 5yolds) at an islamic school. The "islamic" books that I use to read to the kids are the "Quran stories for little hearts" sets. I got these here: http://store.talkislam.com/ I simplify the stories a little bit, since the vocabulary words are a beyond the kids' comprehension.

There is also a good curriculum that emphasizes islamic character education: http://www.ad-duha.org called "Mini Mu'min".

On www.iqra.org, under children's books, there are more nice books in here.

Hopefully that helps, insha'allah.

Assalaamu'alaikum Warahmat'ullah
My wife and I, with the help of the Seerah Foundation (http://www.seerah.org), have started a children's book publishing venture, which we hope insha'Allah will be of benefit to Muslim children living in the west, giving them more variety in the material that is available, and also in quality insha'Allah.
http://www.stonefaruq.com/booksforchildren

We have published 2 books for pre-school children already (which coincidentally happened to be counting books), but we hope to publish more this year insha'Allah, expanding into other age groups and other topics.
We will update our progress regularly insha'Allah on our Blog (http://www.stonefaruq.com/blog). Ask for our books at your local Islamic Bookshop.
jazak'Allah khair, wassalaamu'alaikum warahmat'ullah

Salam, these days theres quite a collection of good islamic books for kids and Alhamdulillah there are more and more coming out

for young children books by Goodwordkids are fun to read and colour in but like sister Amina said they do have illustartions of animals

however "Book of Qur'an people for kids" by Goodword is quite handy for children as a reference book or even as a quick summary to read together. this book is aimed at 8 or above.

the following may not be suitable for kids more for teenagers nevertheless here are the details:

"A Muslim Boy's Guide to Lifes's Big Changes" by Sami Khan (there is one for Girls too)

"The World of Teens" Part 1 & 2 by Moulana Muhammad Yahya Ibn Faruq (i believe there will be/is part 3)

Definitely it's an effective source of leaning Islam for kids and adults. And it's an effective medium for learning Islam at home.
It is necessary for every individual to learn about Islam more and more therefor he/she would be able to understand the real picture of Islam.

Assalamu Alaikum

My daughter is 2 and a half years old, and alhamdulilah I realized she easily "memorizes" the books we keep reading to her. Instead of her memorizing stories about children cartoon characters, and other fictional non Islamic stories, I am looking for some books with Islamic/Quranic themes which we can read to her instead. I have some Islamic books, but the problem with them are

1) The images/pictures are similar throughout the book and are general (not really connected to the text on the page)
2) The sentence structures and vocabulary are not as simple as the other non Islamic books she reads
3) The stories contain words like 'kill' (in relation to people) and other words or incidents which are too violent for her age.

Insha Allah I will look though this thread and see if I find what I am looking for.

I wonder why sister Suduku did not comment here, as from some of her posts in other threads I gather that she was interested in children stories.

^I am actually surprised I haven't noticed this thread until today!

Is it possible to name some of the books you have at home? I understand what you mean about #1 and #3. I am wondering what type of stories you mean by #2. Would simple mean something like a picture book with few words, or an actual story (eg like Red Riding Hood)?

My husband ordered some books and a Quraan from Idara.com. The quality of paper for the Quraan was very good, and the books weren't too bad either.

Sorry for being off-topic but can I politely ask that I read in one of the threads, you said that you believe in Allah SWT the one who sent down previous scriptures, you believe in all the scriptures including Quran being the final Book and i hope you believe in Prophet Muhammad :saw: as the the final Prophet too. Then why dont you just utter shahadah and start your life as a muslim as I fear death that can reach us anytime. As far as understanding Quran completely and then accepting, one can accept islam and study the Quran as no specific time is bound to understand Quran, the more depth we go in, more time will be sent. Abdullah bin Umar (RA) spent around 11 or 13 years to memorize Surah Baqarah alone. He memorized with understanding and acting on it. Sorry if I came across wrong in any info.

Kids love reading stories. I have some books for my son about the stories of the prophets and sahabas. He loves it. MOst parents tend to read fairy tales, fictions and other related topics to their children. Why not tell them the stories of the brave shabas, instill them with the characters and intelligence of our noble prophet SWS. I noticed that also talking to them about these helps along with reading. So as a parent I have to study more and learn in order to interact with my children. Simply reading to them doesn't really affect much as they are also reading about "other" topics in school/college, megazines, news etc..
