I am an eighth grade history teacher in America who is currently doing a unit on Islam. I saw a wonderful special on Discovery Times called Hajj: The Journey of a Lifetime, but unfortunately I could not record it, as my VCR is not hooked up (I just moved into a new place).
I have been desperately trying to find a copy of this special so I could show it to my students, but it is not available from Discovery, nor do I know of anybody who has taped it.
If there is anybody who has either a copy of this special (or information that could lead me to finding a copy), I would be very grateful if they could contact me.
It is important for me to show my students that the Islamic faith is not summed up by what they have seen on the news or in Disney's Aladdin.
Thank you so very much, and have a wonderful day.

Hello!

Welcome to sunniforum.com! I hope your stay here is a beneficial one.

I tried searching for information on the Hajj special on Discovery. I found its homepage at http://times.discovery.com/tuneins/worldwire_hajj.html .

That page links to another site with clips on the Hajj, but I'm not sure if they are from the same special. They're at http://www.channel4.com/life/microsites/H/hajj/indd_video.html .

I hope it helps. I commend you for your efforts in making sure your students learn the truth about Islam.

Regards,
Ziad

Hmm.. Each night of the channel 4 one is here too: http://www.channel4.com/life/microsites/H/hajj/gend_six_onc4.html

I think they're the same? I'll enquire about getting a copy, I think someone I know was on it (forgot to watch :$ )

Thank you! Is the five-parter very long. I'm looking around the 2 hour or less range, which severly limits me. Did anyone see the special on Discovery? I went on their website, but it didn't really tell me how to acquire the special (like other specials, which are often available for purchase).

The following two videos will be useful:

http://www.soundvision.com/shop/pview.asp?Item=1262-011

http://www.soundvision.com/shop/pview.asp?Item=147-012

The first one is by ABC and the second one is by CNN.

You could also email the folks at Discovery Times and enquire about it.

Asalamu Alaikum,
I have that special on tape and can make a copy for you. There are commercials on it though and it was taped over another program, but it's all there. If interested, feel free to pm me and I'll see what I can do about getting it to you.
Wasalam,
Liam

I have tried sending a Private Message, but unfortunately it won't let me :(
I would love a copy, and would be willing to mail you a tape or whatever it would take. I have been off of the computer for a while, which is most unfortunate, but I sincerely appreciate your help :D
Please feel free to e-mail me at [clip -- no email addys allowed in this section]
Thanks again
