Assalm alykum,

when the imam makes a mistake, usually the men say subhanAllah. Now i heard that if there are ONLY woman reading behind her husband or somet then she is to remian silent and clap her hands if the imam makes a mistake. But isn't clapping haraam, or is it excused for this situaion? What is the woman supposed to do if the imam makes a mistake?

And what if the mistake is that he has forgotten part of the surah, or read the surah wrong, can she then not speak to correct him on the surah?

the differnet views from the 4 madhabs would be appreciated.

Was salaam.

What it means by clapping in this situation is: striking the palm (inside part) of the right hand on the BACK part of the left hand. Usually when we say clapping, we take it to mean striking (inner part of) the two palms. But that’s not the case here.

Hand= from the wrist to the tip of the fingers
Palm= the inner surface of the hand from the wrist to the base of the fingers
