As salaamu alaykum.

Which Tafsirs are generally regarded as being among the best Tafsirs that give a linguistic treatment of the Qur'an?

After looking through many books and articles, I've only come up with a few tafsirs whose reputations rests on their treatment of the linguistic aspects of the Quran:

1) Tafsir al Kashshaf by Zamakhshari (the Mutazilah)
2) Tafsir al Bahr al Muhit by Abu Hayyan al Andalusi
3) Madarik al Tanzil wa Haqaa'iq at Tawil by Nasafi

Can some of our more knowledgeable brothers/sisters perhaps add to this list? If any of the Tafsirs that I have listed above should not, in your opinion, be in this category, please say so.

Furthermore, if there is a Tafsir whose reputation does not primarily rest on its treatment of the linguistic aspects of the Qur'an, e.g. Tafsir Ibn Kathir, but who, nonetheless, does an EXCELLENT job in its treatment of certain linguistics aspects of the Qur'an and is widely quoted for such a purpose, make mention of such Tafsirs as well.

Jazakallahu Khair.

Wa'salaam.

I think our Maulana mentioned al Bahr al Muhit as the best linguistic tafseer just last thursday. I'll confirm when the CD is released inshaAllah.

Let me add "Anwār al-tanzīl wa-asrār al-taʾwīl" of Baydhawi to this list from yester year (or years).

Anyone else care to add to it?
