"And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts); verily in that are signs for those who reflect".
[Quran 30:21]

The importance of marriage and spending a blissful married life is known to us all. It is vital and necessary for those seeking to marry and those already married to understand the commands of Allah Most High and His beloved Messenger (Allah bless him & give him peace) concerning this great act of worship.

• Selecting a spouse
• Whom one cannot marry
• Suitability and compatibility in marriage
• Engagement
• Marriage ceremony
• Marriage contracts
• Dowry
• Intimate relations between spouses
• Rights and responsibilities of husband and wife
• The Secrets of conquering love
• Polygamy
• Secret marriages
• Forced marriages
• Muslim non-Muslim marriages
• Birth & upbringing of children
• Creating the tranquil home
• And many other topics

A detailed discussion on these topics will be given in light of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and the classical books of Fiqh followed by a short test (voluntary) in session 6. The course will be primarily based on the renowned classical text al-Mukhtasar of Imam al-Quduri.

Masha'Allah - great opportunity for everybody to attend and benefit from a series of unique study sessions under the guidance of a leading scholar of our times.

Please note: The organisers have tried their best to facilitate for brothers and sisters coming from distant places - the classes have been set to run every fortnight allowing people to reprieve in between.

Personally the best thing about it is that we will be able to study the text of al-Muktasar in a progressive format from cover to cover and complete it under the wisdom of the Shaykh. This should allow for a very detailed and intricate study (the a-z of marriage) to the foundation of a harmonious society...which starts at home by the way! Insha'Allah if harmony is established in the home then that will flow through the children and outside community.

The course is NOT just aimed at people wanting to get married but is also aimed at those brothers/sisters who are already married.

Have I manged to sell it to you guys? :cheesygri

Assalamu Alaikum Wr Wb,

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the first session. But someone e-mailed me the following details about how it went:

------------------------------------------

In the first session the following topics were discussed in great length and detail:

The importance of social injunctions in Islam, The importance of marriage and learning about it, The ruling on getting married i.e. is it Fardh, Wajib, Sunnah, Makruh or unlawful to marry and that the ruling will change according to the person intending to marry. We also discussed in detail how to select a suitable spouse for marriage. What are the things that need to be considered and what things should be avoided.

We intend to cover the various topics in a systematic order, so in the next session we hope to discuss:

1) Prohibitions in marriage, meaning those whom one cannot marry, whether because of kinship, fosterage, and/or many other reasons.

2) All the rules of engagement in detail

3) The actual marriage contract and how a Nikah ceremony is done. The witnesses, etc.

4) Detailed explanation on the dowry

5) Polygamy

6) Rights of husband and wife

And much more

----------------------------------------------------

Masha-Allah, the course sounds great. Hopefully, my friends and I will be attending some of the sessions. Next session is on: Sunday 3rd April

Wassalam.

Sorry to detract a bit but apparently Mufti Muhammad held a course on 'Aqidah at-Tahawiyyah' last year and the CDs are now available. I hear that they are very informative and at a decent price too - any one have any details on how we can purchase them?

Learner

They had an introductory offer of £30 for the entire set of 19 cds...a whopping £20 off from the normal price!!!

The introductory offer was immediately a sell out and I think you should be able to purchase it from all major bookshops from next month and may also be able to buy from www.urvoices.com

As far as I understand, they will be released before the end of this month and only a limited number of sets are being produced. Hence, if you'd like a set too I would urge you to contact voices asap and reserve yourself an entire set. I think the normal price is £49.99.

It makes a wonderful and amazing gift to any serious student of knowledge or a person wanting to know the fundamentals of Islamic belief - many consider the knowledge of aqeedah to be a fundamental issue which EVERY muslim and muslimah should be aware of and have classified it as Fard 'Ayn (Obligatory upon all muslims)...ahh if only we understood the value and importance.

Salaam Alaikum, please share some of those stories with us, if you can.

Really sorry for not getting back on this - I've been pretty tied up lately. Apologies. Insha'Allah When I get a bit more time, I will write down a few of the many funny stories narrated by the shaykh! ;)
