Assalamu 'alaikum,

What is the masnoon method of making duah after salam?

Can someone detail specific procedures and duahs that Hanafis from the subcontinent generally adopt after the salam. I’ve seen many elders immediately recite Istighfar after salams, press one palm against their forehead while making a counting motion on the other hand and finally blow into both hands before spreading them over the face. Then they usually begin with Bismillah, Tahmid, Durud…and recite a few carefully chosen supplications.

I've only come across some randomly suggested duah’s in children's Islamic books but they do not seem to follow a systematic procedure for making duah properly.

If someone can outline a sample procedure for properly closing the Salah with actions, formulas, supplications…I’d appreciate that greatly.

Wassalam.

:salam:

As far as I know, there is no "correct" way to end salaah. Personally, I do Istighfar 3x, then I recite "Allahumma antas-salaam, wa minkas-salaam, tabarakta ya dhal jalaali wal-Ikram." And then, (if I have time, even though I really should make the time) I recite Subhanallah 33x, Allhamdullilah 33x and Allahu Akbar 34x.

In addition, the following may help :insh::

I've also read it's beneficial to read the third kalimah and Ayatul Kursi.

And then just make dua in any language you're comfortable in :insh:. Allah swt understands all languages :)

If any of the ulema have anything else to add, then :insh: please do so.

And Allah swt knows best.
