View Full Version : Topic Locked: the non-moderation of moderators

I find that this forum is much like the wahabi gawhr forum, to my great disappointment. Why do I say this? Because in discussing anything that maybe a somewhat hot topic the thread gets locked. Hello moderators we are adults here (well, with the locking of topics I am starting to feel this may not be true) and we can debate things without desending into a big giant flame war. So please, don't abuse the position of moderator when nobody is insulting others or breaking any of the forum rules and close the thead to a topic some of us would like to debate.
edit: Not to mention the desire to hide this thread in the comments/suggestion area when I put it in the General Topics. Out of sight out of mind.

Hmm, well this appears to be a comment/suggestion with regard to the forum rather than a general islamic topic? I have no idea what thread was closed, but there are a few topics which after mashwera we decided to cut back on after some 100+ post threads which descended rapidly - eg deobandi/barelwi differences etc.. We're not all adults on this forum - go and check out one of those threads or a shia bickering one for example.
Which thread closure are you referring to?
I'd also ask you not to cast aspersions on the intent of the moderators for example moving this thread. Suspicion is bad.

Firstly Brother, the reason i locked that thread was because it was a deviation from the original topic, and i only noticed that it was in the "History and biography" forums after a while.
Secondly, I only locked it because a new thread was started on the same topic in the debates and indepth forum, and thus the exchange of views can continue there.
Forgive me for any mistakes.

Wa aliykum assalamu wa ramatulllah wa barakatu,
My brother, my issue was that the topic had been closed because of the debate. There was nothing to tell me that there was a new thread that continued the debate (no link to new thread, "Hey I closed the thread because.... and here is where to find the continued topic.", etc). I would only ask that some reasoning and direction be provided.

assalamu alaikum wr wb
where the topic was going regarding that in the history section was going way off topic.... so since it was getting to the heated debateable discussion it was probably moved to the appropriate one and all convos can take place there and continue on there, leave the history one as is and move all the debateable ones to the appropriate forum.
It's like if a sis asks about hijab in the general forum, it would be moved to the sisters forum, similarly if a bro were to ask about beard tips and kufi tips his thread would be moved to the bros section only.... and we'd say oh this topic has been moved to such and such and this one in here is closed...
it's not to decieve or hide it from you, it's just it would be better more suited and more organized if it was in here, it's easier to find insha'Allah.

I apologise for that, but the topic (the new one) was already well on its way and thus i assumed that the brothers may already know about it.
However, I did edit my post immediately after your complaint to state that there is a similar topic in the "debates" forum.
