The beard...A poem.

Lets not be disillusioned it’s a struggle to keep the beard
Especially in a place were you’re considered weird

But what can we do? Once the muslims were feared
But those muslims are now just disappeared

These days you can’t tell the difference
Between a muslim and nonmuslim

Its only cause they’ve lost sight and think it makes no difference
But since when does the beloved sunnah make no diff?

The muslims of old would rather jump off a cliff
Rather than forgo such a sunnah!! Only if

We realize that islam is about sacrifice
and stop living like mice

we’re supposed to be strong
So what if we feel like we don’t belong

Islam came in as strange
And it will leave without a change

The sunnah is here to stay
But no doubt!! It’s a struggle not stray

As a young (22) convert, I am greatly perplexed when I see older, knowledgable and respected muslims who don't have beards (the males, of course). I'm not perplexed as to why they are respected, but as to why so many of them shave their beards off completely.

Really it's none of my business and I don't judge them or thnk any less of them, but I am perplexed, especially what with any research I've done as time and time again turned up shaving the beard as haram (makruh at the most). The easiest opinion I've found is that it's OK in the maliki madhab to have a short beard.

Just something that throws a somewhat new convert for a loop.

I went back and forth on this issue till the conclusion became so clear- what kind of beard did Rasool Allah Sal Allahu 'alaihi wasallam have?

The prophet peace be upon Him had a fully grown beard uptil his
chest.

The prophet peace be upon Him kept a full beard which covered the above portion of his chest.

There's also another Hadeeth, i'll post it once I find it Inshallah.

I was saying, that is a question we should ask ourselves. Although I have heard, perhaps I am mistaken, some 'ulema taking the position that the Prophet Sal Allahu 'alaihi wasallam neatening his beard on the sides.

Either way, a full beard is what he had, Alhumdulillah.
