:salam:
Hope everyone is okay, Insha-Allah. I'm really sorry that I've been unable to give sunniforum.com its fair share of my time as of late...just been extremely busy.
Alhamdulillah, I'm a member of the Shariah Program (www.shariahprogram.ca) Advisory Board and I'm also a moderator/TA for the Shariah Program Online Arabic Intensive.
Mufti Yusuf (the program director) and I were recently discussing introducing the Shariah Program to the UK. While there are some students from the UK enrolled in the Online Arabic Intensive, it is hard for many to understand how the course is taught before actually attending the classes. For this reason, we're thinking of holding two 3-day Arabic intensives (1 in London and 1 in Leicester) in late August/early September. These will be demo classes which will enable people to witness first-hand the Shariah Program methodology and see how it actually works.
We then hope to formally introduce the Online Arabic classes to the UK. With so many programs and sites on the internet, it is sometimes very tough to tell who you are actually dealing with; many are sceptical and reluctant to make important decisions based solely on what they read online (and rightfully so). For this reason, we're thinking that maybe meeting those behind the course and attending an actual demo course will satisfy those concerns.
The demo course will be reasonably priced (Insha-Allah) and will cover the basics of the Arabic language. Students will receive a complimentary book on the fundamentals of the Arabic language.
For all those in the UK, please let us know if this is something worth doing, and if you feel that there is a need for something of this sort.
Of course, the ideal and recommended method of learning is at a madrassah or with a Sheikh. However, for many parents, professionals, and students, attending a madrassah is almost out of the question, and finding a Sheikh who is willing to teach on a continuing basis is really tough. It is for people in this situation that we are offering the online courses, since learning something online with a Sheikh is better than learning nothing.
So please let us know your thoughts as soon as possible. We're short on time.
Wassalam,
Ziad
P.S. I look forward to meeting all my friends in the UK, Insha-Allah! :)
