Status of farewell tawaf (tawaf-ul-wadaa)after performing umrah?

Asalam-o-Alaikum wa-rahmatullahu wa-barakatahu

i have a question, What is the status of farewell tawaf (tawaf al wadaa) in umarah, is it obligatory, necessary or supererogatory?

If one wants to go to Madina Munawarah after performing Umrah in Makkah and from Madinah Munawarah he wants to go straight to Jaddah (without stopping in Makkah) and then back to his home land.
Will it be ok for him to do like this or he should go back to Makkah from Madinah Munawarah and perform farewell tawaf (tawaf-ul-wadaa) before going to Jaddah?

I know if one has the intention of doing Hajj then one has to do farewell tawaf (tawaf-ul-wadaa) after performing hajj but what if one has the intention of doing umrah? does one has to perform farewell tawaf (tawaf-ul-wadaa) after doing umrah?

Walikum-us-salam wr wb.

Umrah has two faraidh.

- To wear Ihram (with niyyah and talbeeh)
- To do Tawwaaf.

Umrah has two wajibs.

- Shave the entire head, or cut hair.
- Saii' between safa and marwa.

Therefore, it is not obligatory/necessary to perform a tawaf-ul-wadaa, since it is neither a fardh, nor a wajib.

1) Tawaf sadar is the last tawaf one would perform before leaving the holy city of Makkah Mukarramah. It is wajib for those who are not makki (residents of Makkah). Imam Abu Yusuf رحمه الله تعلى mentions that I prefer that a makki also performs tawaf sadar.

Refer to Manasik of Mulla Ali Qari رحمه الله تعالى page 140 and 252

2) You may leave for Jeddah directly and then proceed home without entering Makkah and performing T Wada.

Tawaf-ul-wadaa is only wajib upon a haji and not wajib on a person performing umra as mentioned by Allamah Shami rh. Pg. 473 vol. 3 Shami, HM Saeed print
