Salam,

I ask the learned brothers and sisters of this group to help me and my
family understand what islam says happens when a young child dies.
What i would specifically like to know is:

1) The level of awareness of the soul during the first 40 days in the
grave? as some people say that the soul will be aware of dua's and
activities of the family during this time, and will then pass into a
less aware state. I would like an islamic answer - even if theres no
clear one. I understand that there is a barzakh state, but the dead
are not aware of earthly events during this period so i'm confused how
the dead can know.

2) Does the soul of the child develop in the grave into adulthood, and
will there be a reunion between the adult child and parents on
judgement day? will Allah (swt) permit a child to be with parents in
Jannah ?

3) Can the child act as an intercessor for only the parents or for
uncles etc

4) Any other information you can provide would be useful, as after
reading countless books i just cant find information on this
situation.

Thanks in advance,
Shahin.

The 40 days thing is NONSENSE.

The child does not grow into an adult in the grave and theres difference of opinion about part two of your question. Some say families will be together in jannah and who ever is in a lower janna will pray to allah to put him in a higher jannah with his family and some say there'll be no such relationships in jannah. Only husband and wife. Everybody will be married.

Only for the parents.
