yes!!! its TRUE!!!
so i walk into ol' medina masjid just like many a jumma in the past. so we're waiting, cuz usually good ol' mufti abdullah gives a mini-nasiha before the actual khutba. so it felt like he was late or something.
alluva sudden i see from the back, SHAYKH RIYADH-UL-HAQ!!! i'm like yo!! i guess he DID make to toronto after all!!! good thing sunniforum warned me, and i was a little prepared or else, i may have fainted.
so he does the lil' english nashia, then the khutba and i had the honour of praying my jumma behind the esteemed scholor. then after that i got to shake his hand, said salam. mashallah, i think all the programs are pretty much going ahead, although there was no announcements or anything after jumma.
lesson learned: never gonna know was happennin' in TO or in good ol' medina masjid!!!

He came to my house once. :D :alhamd:
Sad part is, I wasn't there. I was at madarasa. My dad picked him up from the airport and brought him there.
It was in 1997. He took our final exam. We were scared cold. He asked me about the madrasa web site, since I was running it at the time. I was so scared (especially with his British accent - sounded more authoritative) that I kept inadvertently adding 'sir' after my responses. :$
Khair, wish I was in Toronto for his talks. Well I'll be there soon anyway, :insh:. Hope he's coming for Youth Tarbiyah...
yea, mashallah i love his accent. i felt like telling him, ya shaykh please stay in toronto. i miss maulana abdur-raheem too, came in ramadhan to medinah from bury. that madrassa in bury is like a gem.

No dont ask him to stay in Toronto we want him back in U.K, yes you are right the Madrassah in Bury is a gem Alhumdulilah the Ustaads there are great and the Ulema who have graduated from there are doing the work of deen in most parts of the world.

Just came back from dinner...
Masha'allah...his bayaan was awesome! But he was a little angry heh...insha'allah i will upload it on http://www.yousendit.com :D
and then one of u folks with bandwidth can post it up for everyone to hear
Ahmad Shehab was excited...as usual...lolz
Shaikh Riyadh Al Haqq didn't get enough time though! he should have gotten more time! By da way somebody talk to ISNA about the segragation...so horrible...half purdah...bad! Brothers fully turn around and stare at the back...they're ruining their own akhirah and the akhirah of the sisters...and imagine the amount of sins the management is getting...so many masjids have this problem...we need proper segragation!
If you're going to have a woman's section...then get the bloody partition proper!
Which brings to the third issue of the night...no consideration...the food on table is distracting to the speaker...and ppl were literally leaning back and eating pakoras while shaikh riyadh al haqq and shaykh ahmed shehab were speaking...totally not right...others were rude enuff to whisper constantly...
subhanallah...
But I still loved shaikh Riyadh Al Haqq's bayaan...subhanallah...words toucing and inspirational as always!

[Hmm
I know shaykh Riyadh is very particular about pardah so he probably wasnt too impressed
man...organisers should ensure proper segregation!
Hypermodestmuslima
24-04-2005, 07:39 PM
I know proper segragation is essential...
First off...the fundraising part was not right...I address myself b/f others...ok if sisters are going to you know be volunteers...and if brothers are going to be volunteers...for a school at that thats ensuring that the next generation isn't totally anti-islamic then the least they could have done was lightly ensure that brothers and sisters would respect the ISLAMIC event by being slightly considerate (cause eating pakoras and drinking water whilst a speaker's talking not to mention leaning back and conversing with others! is totally unacceptable...) Also...there was no proper purdah...at least in the dinner area there was purdah but imagine the impression one of the biggest masjids in Canada is ISNA and they can't even have a full segragated area with a purdah...I mean I'm sure it will just cost a little more to just erect a wall between them...and if not a wall then make do with makeshift dividers that at least cover the upper bodies of the sisters...what the heck's the point of a half divider that only covers from the waist down...Nikabi sisters can't pray properly and Brothers are fully turning around and rudely conversing while facing the back...and the sisters were no different...talking for a while after prayers...it was angering...
May Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) give us all towfiq. Ameen!
I was also not impressed by the way the event was conducted...alhamdulillah one of the speakers sat behind the partition...only his voice could be heard...and the other speaker stood on the stage and conducted a fundraising...and i don't care if he says that he's not looking their with that intention...auctioning could have been conducted in a more segragated manner...Segragation is key...I mean this was totally not right...
However, ALhamdulillah its a start...at least their was a partition in the dinner area...some events have family tables...in which brothers and sisters are sitting together...and apparently that alright...I call that the restaurant approach ...anywayz...
The speakers, however, despite all the very distracting occurences gave inspirational speeches and actually managed to uplift many of the ppl their to donate to a good cause (http://www.thequranacademy.com) and inspire many to attend Islamic institutions rather than public schools...a very noble cause no doubt. (May Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) make this noble cause a success. Ameen. And May Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) give us all the towfiq to carry out any noble causes for this deen with accordances to this Din, respecting the laws of the Shariah and Islam. Ameen! )
Also the little children were also very cute and had a little program. The little kids got together and sang Al Mualim, and said the Surahs' names in an eloquent/cutish manner. Masha'allah! and their were little speeches by two kids...and they were pretty cute too. Masha'allah.
Anyhow, I went to the event to listen to a good bayaan...and I got two good ones...alhamdulillah...although I think Shaikh Riyadh Al Haqq should have gotten more time to speak...man he would have inspired ppl to donate as well...his words literally move you...Masha'allah...

Inshallah if everything works out he will be coming to Montreal soon, at the world famous COncordia university (you know the place where riots broke out when natanyahu came down to give a speech). As far as i know malauna asim doesn't have his audio lectures broadcasted everywhere since he thinks it can effect someone's pride.( I got this info from another bro, so i don't know how accurate this is) But he does allow recording of his lectures for personal use. Shaikh Asim's Arabic is amazing and the young Sheikh has also been termed as the North American English version of Maulana Tariq Jameel. Maulana Suleman Kattani of South Africa holds the 'English version of Maulana Tariq Jameel' title. :)

Yup, He gave this kuthba at Con U and ppl were literally blown away, we didn't know how good our speakers were. His arabic is phenomenal (arabs tell me he speaks like he is off the boat from some arab country) His english is obviously really good and his urdu is also preety impressive. However, sh abu yusuf in my opinion is much better, salaafis even show sh abu yusuf luv. Unlike most scholars, sh abu yusuf can bash salaafis and still make em luv him... Give maluana asim a couple of more yrs and he will be much better than he is now..... ( don't wanna compare scholars since allah gave each one unqiue qualities, but sh abu yusuf is preety good)

Of course to me its more like...the most inspirational thing I've ever read. You know there's that thread on Hidayah and guidance...and I'd have to say...in the darkness the Quran is the light.
And in my confusion, alhamdulillah, listening to his tapes helped me realise that the light in the darkness I thought I was in was the Quran and Sunnah.

without a doubt he is probably the main reason for me understanding this deen of ours.
he is very special mashallah and many ppl recognise this and bcos of this i also know that he also attracts the bad feelings of many envious, dirty hearts.
i say, long live Shaykh and his beneficial teaching of the sunnah and may Allah cure those ppl with the disease of envy and jealousy in their hearts.
may Allah taAla lengthen his shadow over us. ameen.
love him for the sake of Allah.
[ive been thinking for some time now about starting a thread dedicated to the works of Shaykh Riyadh....but ive desisted...one of the reasons is bcos i have a feeling it will also attract the negative ppl who wish to spread slander against Shaykh Riyadh...may Allah guide us]

I think starting a thread for sheikh abu yusuf is great. However, it is important to note that in everything their are ppl who hate. It has happened to everyone including our beloved prophets.
