:salam:

There is a famous story of Imam Dar al-Hijrah, Malik bin Anas :rahim: that he once was teaching Hadith in the Prophet's Mosque, when a scorpion (?) came and bit him several times. Inspite of the severe pain, he continued teaching in respect for the Hadith.

Does anyone have the full story with all the details? Both Arabic and English fine :insh:

:jazak:

Forgive me, brother, but this translation (by Google Translate) makes no sense at all; what is, for example, the meaning of "a scorpion came to tell us Veldgth sixteen times"? and why someone who is supposed be patient screaming?

Anyway, here is a quick translation of the passage:

al-Madkhal ila l-Sunan al-Kubrā lil-Bayhaqī - (2 / 90)
[The narrator] related: ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Mubārak said: I was with Mālik b. Anas while he was relating hadiths to us. A scorpion came and stung him sixteen times. Mālik became pale, but he remained composed without interrupting the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. After he finished the session and the people had dispersed, I said: O Abū ʿAbd Allāh, I saw you doing something amazing. He said: Yes, I remained composed out of reverence for the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
