Salaam,

I have booked a hajj tour that was recommended to me. I have recently started reading more into Islam and follow the Hanafi Madhab. The group is Ahle Hadith

What would be the main things I should look out for, I mean with regard to performing the hajj which the Hanafi Madhab does not agree with. I will continue to do my own reading into this matter, but I do not want to perform my hajj in a manner in a way which disagrees with the hanafi madhab.

:ws: Brother,

Hajj is such a hectice time that most groups don't have time to worry about individual folks and you may be free to do what you want, most of the time.

Here is a step-by-step guide written by an experienced Scholar which you can follow:

Simple Guide to Hajj & Umrah
(http://www.central-mosque.com/fiqh/simpleh.pdf)

When travelling with an Ahl-e-Hadeeth there are a few things which may worry you:

a) While travelling they will combine Salah. Many Hanafees (such as myself) also do this sometimes while travelling as I have seen many Major Hanafi Ulama do this likewise but Ulama at SF expressly forbid this under all circumstances, so its down to you as to what you want. But you will certainly encounter this.

The bus will be stopped at certain times only so you may not have a choice but to combine...Depends and you will have to look and see

b) The day after Arafah according to the Madhab of Imam Abu Haneefa (RA) it is Wajib to do the Amaal (Rami, Qurbani, hair-cut etc.) in a certain order while it is Sunnah according to the rest of the Imams and also the students of Imam Abu Haneefa (RA).

The Fiqh Academy of India and many other Hanafi Ulama consider this Sunnah while a vast majority of Hanafi Ulama stick to the opinion of Imam Abu Haneefa (RA) and consider this Wajib and therefore if the order is missed (read the book to know the order) you have to pay Damm.

Again, you have leeway either way but during Hajj you should follow the order (be it Sunnah) for the reward.

Ahl-e-Hadeeth don't pay much attention to the order, your group may or may not be different.

c) Ahle-Hadeeth will also certainly join (and combine) the prayers of Dhohar & Asar on the field of Arafat, as a Hanafi you don't:

http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.php?askid=4e06ef0b2c9f7f711203d2322e1bb14c

on this issue you will be staying in Arafat so you can easily do Dhohar with your Ahle-Hadeeth group and walk around at Asar time and join another group so there is no reason for you to stick to the group on this one...

d) Ahl-e-Hadeeth have a serious issue with visiting the Mubarak grave of Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) and you would be given various talks about the correct intention etc.

Completely and utterly ignore all of the talks on this subject and follow the book.

P.S: Basically it will be very easy for you to ignore all of the talks of the group and do your own thing. Keep the book with you!

Jazak'Allah Khair,

The information you have given is very helpful. I did think one of the would main point they would not agree with is visiting the grave of Rasoolullah (SAW).

I've read two books I got from my brother, and both of them state that it is Sunnah of Waqoof to pray Zuhr and Asr together. However, it does state that one of the condition to pray Zuhr and then Asr is that the residential imam must not do Qasar (shortened Salah of a traveller).

Is it always a residential imam that leads the Jamaah?

:ws:

It will be very difficult for you to get to the Masjid and next to impossible to find out who is leading and his status.

Therefore most people do a congreagtion in their tents.
