i have Urdu Islamic pdf format books, some books are imaged pdf books and some are text edited pdf books.

now when i convert pdf books into simple text format (notepad) i see garbage characters into notepad file, but pdf files have urdu font text.

i search to convert it as same as in original pdf books but i did not find any solution for it.

if anyone of you know easy solution for these reply.

second one, is there any mobile software for nokia 3110c to read complete pdf (text & imaged) books in this mobile? because i found one software, but it converts only english text not "Urdu".

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

You might be able to use Urdu in simple text files if you use the Unicode/UTF-8 encoding and a text editor which is able to display Urdu.

It might be possible that by using character/text recognition software you could convert those PDF files into text files, but with the imaged/scanned ones you will most probably encounter recognition errors. (If such a character/text recognition software for Urdu exists at all...)

Displaying and using Arabic is already a hassle on computer systems as they have been conceived only with a Latin character set in mind, Urdu is probably going to be much harder. It will probably just be better to keep your PDFs and read them with a PDF viewer.

And Allah ta'ala knows best.

With most of the PDF files, this won't be possible. Because they are made in InPage, a very old Urdu software which doesn't use unicode fonts, hence copying wont be possible.
